Church news At the ,United Church the Rev. Elwood Morden con- ducted the service• for the fourth Sunday in Advent, and entitled his message "The Real Christmas Story". We need to make the Christmas Story more meaningful by spreading Joy, Love and Peace, and gutting more of Christ into Christmas. Margaret McGuffin performed the ceremony of lighting the fourth candle in the Advent Wreath. A presentation on the "Nativity" was given by the Sunday School pupils of Mrs. Leroy Bryan and Mrs. Gary Humphrey's class. The following children took part. Mary, Angie Wallis, Joseph, Stephen Humphrey. The four angels, Paula Pincome, Jenifer Chovancek, Carolyn Bryan, and Juanity,Kop. The four Shepherds, Jonathon Hill, Jimmy Oliver, Ryan Ferguson, and Darren Waters. After singing "Away in a Manger" and "His name is Wonderful" each child presented a gift that they would like to give Jesus, with the name in big print on a piece of cardboard. Also the children carried models of Mary and 'Joseph and the Baby Jesus, and placed them in the Creche at the front of the church. A reminder that there will be a Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at Wesley United Church at 7:30 p.m. on December 24. The Sacrement of Holy Communion will conclude the service. Women's institute news The President, Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins was the hostess for the December meeting of the Granton W I on Tuesday evening, A pot luck Christmas supper preceeded the meeting. Roll call was answered by a Christmas meeting. During the business period, money was voted to the Granton 4-H Club, the 1981 course is going to be "Which came first the chicken or the egg". Several items of business were discussed and taken care of. Wilfred Riddell was the Institute's choice for the Farmer of the Year contest. The members spent the remainder of the evening filling Christmas card houses (which they had made at home) with a variety of home-made cookies for shut-ins and people from the community who were in nursing homes. Each member brought a gift for a boy or a girl at the War Memorial Children's Hospital in London.
