N.G. Marjorie Arthur presided and wag assisted by V.G. Cheryl Edwards who also gave the sick and shut- in report. Several Christmas cards ana cards of thanks were read. It was announced that the Odd Fellows Rally will be held in St. Thomas on Fri- day, April '17 with a banquet at 50.m. A letter was received from D.D,P. Verna Thomas stating that the Assembly President Myrtle Paterson will be visiting the District January 6, & 7. She will be in Exeter JanuSry 7 with Seaforth Lodge as guests. It Was decided to have a-ban- quet in her honour. All members were reminded of the Christmas Party on December 17 at 6:30 with exchange gifts of $2. The Oath, of Office was taken by Reeve Jack Dorman, Deputy A decision may be made tonight on the hiring of a facilities supervisor for the South Huron Recreation Centre to replace Jim Guenther. Guenther • an employee of the rec centre, since October of 1975 recent- ly resigned and accepted a position with an area car dealership. Administrator Ian Smith said a decision to hire the supervisor was to have been made Monday at the monthly meeting of the rec centre board but the meeting was cancelled due to a lack of a quorum. The- meeting was re-scheduled for tonight. A total of 12 applications have been received for the job. Treasurer Fred Heaman, Clerk William Amos and Road Superin- tendent Bruce Karr, were also in attendance, The new reeve cited roads as one of his main areas of concern and said he would like to see blacktopping started in the Township. He, also,' streessed the re-in- statement of the ratepayers' meeting. Council agreed to prepare a summary after each meeting and sumbit it to the local newspapers to keep the ratepayers informed. Building permits in the amount of $19,000.00 were approved. Tile drain loans in the amount of $37,500.00 were approved. All tile-drain loan funds have been used up until April 1, 1981 unless further funds -from the Only one allowed Similar to trail bikes, snowmobiles will be prohibited from using, Ex- eter's park property this winter, except on roads in- tended for vehicular use. The lone exception will be the snowmobile used by the Ausable-Bayfield Conserva- tion Authority to groom the -cross country ski trails which start at the communi- ty park and progress across public and private property to Morrison dam. At their meeting last week, Exeter council agreed to permit the Conservation Authority to use the snow- mobile to groom the trails. At the same time, Coun- cillor Jay Campbell moved that council send a letter of thanks to the Authority for providing the trail. He said it was most appreciated by local skiers. "I'd like to see a snow- mobile ,trail, that's my sport," Reeve Don MacGregor interjected. The motion was one of several presented at the in- augural by Campbell and it prompted Mayor Shaw to ask if he (Campbell) made all the motions at council meetings. • : : : : I : ; : : I I : • ••1 KENNETH MORRIS Kenneth M. Morris of Ben- miller 'passed away in Alex- ander and Marine General Hospital, Goderich on Thurs- day, December 4 in his 72nd year. Surviving is his wife, Shirley Vanstone and step- ion Aldon (golly) Vanstone, Hensell. Several sisters and a brother 'survive, also eight grandchildren and ten great- grandchildren. Predeceased „by one sister and one grand- son. Funeral service was held fro - the McCallum Funeral Orne, ' Cambria Road a ' tigt. Street, Goderich on'Saturdak. Inter- ment in Colborne Cemetery. HELEN BIRTWISTLE At Chateau Gardens, Parkhill on Sunday, December 7,1980. Helen (Dobbie) widow of the late Harry Birtwistle, formerly of Forest and Grand Bend, in her 83rd year. Surviving are three sisters Mrs. Annie Frayne, Forest, (Prances) Mrs. Harry Clemens of High River, Alberta, Mrs. Alice Robson of Chateau Gardens, Parkhill and one brother John Dobbie of Forest. Also surviving are one step- daughter Mrs. a Muriel Paschall, Prince George, British Columbia, and four step-sons Arthur, Kenneth, Robert and Harry. Predeceased by two sisters Mrs. Margaret Gardiner and Bessie and one brother Edward. Rested at the T. Harry Hoffman and Sons Funeral Home, Dashwood; where the funeral service was held Tuesday, December ,9. Interment Forest Cemetery, Rev. John Campbell officiating. Authorization was given for the completion of the purchase of the gravel pit "from Arthur and Clare Hodgins at a total price of $28,000.- The borrowing by-law for debenture on the watermain was given third reading. Treasurer Fred Heaman is retiring the end of 1980 and the position will be ad- vertised. The next council meeting will be held on December 15 at 10:00 a.m. The agenda for meetings will be prepared ahead of time and any in- formation should be in the hands of the clerk as soon-as possible before a meeting.
