Clerk. Jack McLachlan said.it took him three- quarters of an hour to drive to and home from the meeting held for the first time at the township office in Vanastra, which has been newly renovated for the council meetings, With three new councillors much of the meeting time was spent outlining council business to them to acquaint them with township matters. Appointments were made to various committees and boards, Councillor Bob Broadfoot was appointed to the Clinton Fire area board, Deputy reeve_ Bill Brown to the Seaforth fire area board and Reeve Robert Bell to the Hensall fire area board, Councillor Jim )'apple was appointed to represent the council on the Farm Safety Association and Cleave Coombs of Egmondville on the Seaforth Community Hospital board, Deputy reeve Bill Brown was appointed to the landfill site committee, Reeve Bell and councillor John Brownridge will represent council on the Vanastra day care board. A tile drain loan ap- plication for $5,200 was approved. The next meeting will be held December 16, Chamber of Commerce Continued from page 2A to $1700. Simpson was given the go ahead to purchase an answering service for the chamber telephone, GQrd and Jean Glazier were thanked for the dinner to which they had catered. Only one argument 'dampened the evening's festivities. Jud Bumstead asked the chamber to reconsider backing the Eric Mcllroy day.. Several chamber members told him that they had wanted the day to be a community project, and that is why the events were turned over to an Eric Mcllroy day committee, Chairman of the committee Mae Morenz said that the committee had been held up getting letterhead printed and had not been able to solicit donations. The building of cairn was also discussed. Lee Thomas suggested that funds should be donated to the community centre, and the brass plague 'honouring Mcllroy be set in a cornerstone of the centre. At one point, Mrs. Thomas accused the committee of going "hog wild". ******************** The Assessment Act NOTICE TO PROPERTY OWNERS AND TENANTS Pursuant to section 46 of The Assessment Act, I hereby extend to the 27th day of January, 1981, the day upon which the assessment roll for the year 1980 is recOired to be Teturned pursuant to the provisions of the said Act, in the following municipalities in the Counties of Huron and Perth. • • Town of Wingham, Village of ZuriCh; Townships of East Wawanosh, McKillop, Stanley, Stephen, Tuckersmith and West Wawanosh.
