South Huron.
Although swat. Huron
failed in its bid to capture the
Huron-Perth championship,
they . still qualified for
WOSSA play by virtue of the
fact that Seaforth was an A
school and South Huron an
"AA" institution.
After losing the first game of two, game total point
series, 39-23, at home a week
ago Monday, South Huron
was faced with the difficult
task of overcoming a 16'point
deficit while 'playing in
the cloistered surroundings
of .Seaforth's gymnasium.
Nevertheless, the team'
didn't give up.
"We came out to win and
we did", said, Brenda Riddell
the standout in the game for
South Huron,ps she scored 25
of the team's 31 points. Using
their zone effedively in the
small gymthe Panthers shut
down Seaforth's offence,
restricting them to only 28
points as they won 3128.
However; the three point
win wasn't enough as South
won the battle but lost the
war, 67-54.
Other scorers for South
Huron in the game were
Ronnalee Bogart with four
points and Lisa Stretton with
two 'points.
The team and their coach
Mr. O'Rourke should be
complimented on an ex-
cellent season despite the
chances given them by some
skeptics at the beginning of
the season.
The team surprised many
people by equalling their
efforts of last year, despite
losing most of their starting
line. Hopefully, the team will
be able to continue this
successful tradition next
year.

MOM,
The. Exeter Hawks posted
two wins this weekend, one
over the northern division
leading Mitchell Hawks, to
gain sole possession of
second place.
However, both Lucan and
Tavistock, who split games
to drop into a tie for third
spot, have games in hand
over the Hawks.
The weatherman played
hovoc with the schedule this
week as several games were
postponed due to Tuesday's
winter storm and heavy fog
on the weekend.
Exeter came up with wins
over Mitchell and the last
place Seaforth Centennaires
to push their point total to 19,
three less than Mitchell and
two, more than Lucan and
Tavistock.
The Hawks will battle
head-to-head with the Irish
for that second place on
Wednesday. They hooked up
for their first meeting of the
season in Lucan.
Friday night, the Hawks
host Bothwell and will have
the hapless Mt. Brydges
Cougars here on, Sunday
afternoon.
Come from behind
The Exeter crew came up
with two goals in the third
period, Friday, to beat their
namesakes from Mitchell 5-4
in one of the better contests
played at the rec centre this
season.
The teams traded goals
late in the first period and
Mitchell out-scored Exeter
by a 3-2 margin in the middle
frame to take a 4-3 lead into
the final frame.
Randy Parsons knotted the
count at the 2;42 mark of the
final on a power play and
Pete Tuckey scored the
winner near the mid-way
mark when he completed a
play with Parsons.
Exeter's earlier goals'
were fired by Brian Mercer,
Doug Brooks and Preston
Dearing.
Bill Glover was the top
playmaker with three assists
to his credit, while Parsons
ended up with a pair. Singles
went to Dearing, Dave Couse
and Tuckey.
Rich Fletcher worked '
between the pipes and
handled 25 shots suc-
cessfully, while Dave
Fischer stopped 24 in the
Mitchell nets.
Exeter scored on two
power play opportunities as
the visitors picked up nine
penalties compared to the
seven served by the hosts.
Four power plays
The Hawks power play
was potent on Sunday af-
ternoon as they scored four
times with a man advantage
on the way to a 6-1 triumph
over the Seaforth crew at the
rec centre.
Preston Dearing and Rick
Lindenfield scored on power
play's in the first period and
Lindenfield and Bill Glover
added the other two in the
final frame. John Kernick
and Pete Tuckey recorded
the other tWo tallies while
the teams were even.
Seaforth's lone goal came
midway through the second
to spoil the shutout bid by
Steve WellsJwho had a
comparatively easy chore in
the nets as he faced only 18
shots while the Hawks were
