Starting on Boxing Day, pecember 26 will be the Exeter novice tournament with the host club Waxers ,one of 14 teams participating. Champions will be declared in three categories with the final'games in the three classifications set for 3, 4 and 5 p.m. on Saturday, December 27. In the first game at 10 a.m. on Boxing Day Zurich will meet Dorchester. The first outing for the Exeter Waxers will be at 2 p.m. on opening day when they tackle London Stoneybrook. A change hAs been made in tourney regulations for this year. For the first time in the "A" and "C" categories, the two teams which win their second games will play for the championship and the two losers in the final will be considered to be consolation winners, In the "13" division, the team that wins by the biggest goal spread will get a bye into the finals. Early in January the Exeter Hawks' will again sponsor the annual Junior "D" tournament with some fd the top junior clubs in Western Ontario ,competing. If memory serves us correctly, the, Mitchell Hawks were the winners in 1980 and the Lucan Irish were tops the year before. The tourney goes at the South Huron Rec Centre on Saturday and Sunday, January 10 and 11. Wrestlers go this week Wrestling on the high school front is again underway at South Huron District High School with two top notch attractions at the local school during the next two weeks. South Huron wrestling coach Doug Ellison informs that the annual Red and Black tournament will be held at South Huron on Friday, December 12 with 10 to 12 teams from Western and Central Ontario par- ticipating. In addition to the South Huron wrestlers com- petitors will come from London, Kitchener, Sarnia and Atli ton. Preliminary bouts will start at 1.2 noon with .the finals getting underway at 7 p.m. This is the eleventh edition of the Red and Black wrestling event. On December 20, the South Huron grapplers will be completing the final of a two year exchange with schools from Michigan and Banting in London in atten- dance. The South Huron team travelled to Michigan a year ago and this year will be hosting teams from Columbia ancl. Napoleon, Michigan. The Michigan wrestlers will be arriving in Exeter Friday night and will be billeted that evening at the homes of South Huron wrestlers. • The public is invited to drop in to watch both the Red and Black and the America exchange meets. Ad- mission for the latter event is $1 for adults and 50 cents for students. Pooley report The la test news release from Ohio State university in Columbus, Ohio shows the Pooley brothers are in the top five scorers on the team. Paul Pooley with six goals and seven assists in eight games leads the Ohio State team in scoring while twin brother Perry has scored four goals and picked up the same number of assists. Of the 12 k State goals scored on power plays Paul Pooley has five to his credit while Perry has scored one game winning goal and one while his team was playing short handed. The team record to date is six wins and three losses. Well done, girls Congratulations are in order to coach Pat Rowe and her South Huron District High School junior girls basketball team. After an undefeated regular schedule with 10 straight victories, the Panthers won the Huron-Perth championship the hard way. They lost the first game of a two game total point series to Stratford Monday and then came roaring back Wednesday on their home court to win the series by eight points. Then it was on to Tillsonburg and the WOSSA playoffs and again the locals turned in excellent per- formances. They were eliminated in the semi-finals by Tillsonburg by only three points.
