Dennis surgery last week. Jeff Borland is a patient in St. Joseph's Hospital London having undergone surgery last week. We wish them all a speedy recovery. Karen and Kathy' Rohde, ,Exeter spent the weekend with their grandparents Mr. Mrs, William Rohde. Mrs. Donald. Bray, Mrs. Arnold Cann, Miss Doris Elford, Mrs. William, Rohde,. 'SuPper a t the Golden Leaf and the lights at Simcoe which were really beautiful.. United Church women The Christmas meeting of the U.C.W. was held on Monday evening with 40 ladies in attendance. Mrs. Bev Alexander welcomed everyone. A candle lighting service that took place in Nova Scotia sonle time ago was followed, Mrs. Alexander offered prayer. There were 4 candles lit which represented Witness, Study, Fellowship and Service, Mrs. Alexander lit a candle at a time and Mrs. Bray read about each subject. Mrs. Carl Hume then read a passage of Scripture between each subject. Christmas carols were also sung after each Scripture. All sang Mine Eyes have seen the glory and repeated the U.C.W.,'purpose, Mrs. Alexander blew candles out and Mrs. William Rowcliffe gave a reading, and Mrs, Myrtle Metters also gave a reading. The candles were relit and Mrs. Metters offered prayer. Mrs. William Rowcliffe gave a humorous reading "Twas a young mother's Christmas"•. Offering was received by Mrs. Hume and Mrs. Metters and prayer was given by Mrs. Alexander,. Mrs. Donald Bray and Miss Doris Elford sang "There's a song in the air" accompanied by Mrs. Reg Hodgert. A quiz Sermon in Soap was conducted by Mrs. Alexander. Mrs. Murray Daviison then took charge of the business. She gave a Thought on Christmas. The usual business was , dealt with. Mrs. Dawson, Mrs. Edwin Miller and Mrs. Donald Bray gave reports of a meeting they attended recently.- Mrs. Dawson closed the meeting with prayer.
