If the inaugural session of
Hay township is any in.
dication, the next twolears
for the council could prove to
be very interesting,
In what is usually a
"rubber stamp" meesttre
former Reeve Jack TIMM'
came very cleft to not being
named the township's
repreeentative on the
Ausable-Bayfield Conser-
vation Authority.
Councillor Tony Bedard
said township repreSen-
tatives to various boards and
agencies should be members
of the present council as an
official who is not a member
of council "can't answer to
the public."
Deputy-reeve Lionel
Wilder agreed with Bedard
that only elected officials
should be appointed at the
county level but that the
conservation authority was
not as important 'as the
county level of government,
Wilder said 'Finney who has,
served on behalf of township
at the Authority should be
appointed for a two year
term.
Councillor Dick Rau
agreed with Wilder.
New member of council
Gerald Shantz agreed with
Bedard and said "the line
has to be drawn somewhere"
on the matter of township
reps.
Reeve Lloyd Mousseau
said that in the, case of the
Authority many represen-
tatives do not sit on a,
municipal council.. •

Apple orchard day
Two months ago the
kindergarten and grade one
went to Crunican's apple
orchard. They rode through*
the orchard on a farm
wagon. The students were
allowed to pick 2 apples.
They could eat 1 and save 1
for home, They showed them
where the apples were
stored. There were also
plums and pumpkins._ Grade
1 made apple sauce and they
were each given 1 small
pumpkin. They all liked the
apple orchard and want to go
again sometime.

Camp Sylvan
For the first three days of
October the Grade 8's went
to Camp Sylvan. Most of us
got lost on the orienteering
course, That night we
studied the stars. We learned
about forestry, had a
cemetary study, played
survival, did a soil study,
and went on a mystery tour.
We had a great time.

Children's museum
Wednesday October 15,
rooms 8 and 0 (grades 2,3,4)
went to see the London
Children's Museum. Here
are some of their likes and
dislikes about that trip. -
Vtcki Desjardine
There were crafts, games,
and other interesting things.
In People and Machines, I
mostly liked the crafts. In
the next part there were
slides, makeup, and other
things. I mostly liked the
makeup. -Tim Bird.
At the museum we went to
see People and Machines
and a haunted house. Barb
was our guide. She showed
us machines and pets. Then
we could do what we wanted.
The haunted house was
based on "Where the -Wild
Things Are." There was a
film of the story, We could
also make masks, boats, and
crowns, -Julie Schade.
We went on bus 4; it was
fun. I liked people and
machines. -Brent Love.
When I went to the
Children's Museum, I saw a
pet machine, There was a
spelling and a math one too.
There was a speak and spell.
It would _give you a word and
you would have to spell it.
There was a make-up center,
YQU could put different faces
on with the make-up. There
was a costume center. There
was only fox costumes .
There was Mac's house and
his bed. -Kelly-Lynn Young
