and Frank Loyens of Lobro
Construction reported on
progress of a propOsed
senior citizen apartments.
They told council govern-
ment., regulations • had
changed as far as financing
was concerned. •
Grants and monies are
now available
municipalities and non-profit'
organizations.

The Lucan and District
Lions Club have had a busy
three months during which
they visited Hyde Park
Charter night, St. Thomas
5 0 th Anniversary
celebrations, a Cabinet
meeting, St. Mary's annual
breakfast, the Paris Lions
Club, and the zone meeting
at Greenhills Golf and Coun-
try Club.
Speakers included District
Governor Lion Allister
Cameron, Dutton, Deputy
District Governor Lion
Alvin. Betterly, Mt. Brydges,
and Lion Keith Grigg, Eder-
ton.
The Walter Ostaneck
dance in September was well
attended and the music en-
joyed by dancers and
listeners both.
Lion Bill Sandisoi. was
honoured with the "Lion of
the Year Award" and
presentations were made to
Past President Lion Ted
Giesen and to new members
Lions Frank Toonders and
Bill Sandison, who joined the
Club last spring. This fall
two more members have
been added, Lions Neville
Clarke and. Bob Benner.
Lion Alex Hyde was ap-
pointed co-ordinator of the
Lucan Minor Hockey
Association and will' have a
very busy winter ahead of
him. The canvass for the
Canadian National Institute
for the Blind netted ap-
proxin-iately $1,000. Thanks
to all who helped and all, who
contributed.
Zone projects this year
will include a St. John's Am-
bulance mobile first aid sta-
tion, Terry Fox month,
November, and an Inter-
national Night.
The theme for the Lions'
year is "A Touch of Life
With Hope" and programs
will be built around this
phrase.

spoke on "Interpreting the
Silences"., based on I Kings
19: the account of how dis-
couraged Elijah had become
with the people of Isreal,
All his efforts to lead them
in God's way seemed in vain
with more turning to
worship Baal. In dispair, he
cried out to God and even
asked Him to take his life
but it was in the "still small
voice" that Elijah heard
God and gave him new hope.
The Bible Society has been
granted a permit from the
Soviet Government to print
the Bible ,in Russia and also
in Cuba, and T.V. Bible
Viewing time in China has
been doubled. Our own Cana-
dian Inuit will soon have
their own translation, thanks
to the dedication of the
Society to translate, print,
and carry the Word of God to
all the nations of this earth.
The choir, under the direc-
tion of Beulah Hardy sang,
the anthem "Go and Tell
Redemptions Story" by
Sullivan Memb6rs of the
congregation were welcom=
ed by Jackie Blay and
Noralee Elson.

Lions club into
a busy season
"Barbershop Show on
Broadway" at the Communi-
ty Centre recently, which
they enjoyed very much.
The club received a nice
cheque from the Clara
Howard Estate in recogni-
tion of the help the Lions had
given her at various times.
This cheque will be put into a
savings account until a
directive is decided.
Donations this fall have in-
cluded "Marathon of Hope"
$100, effective speaking con-
test $25, and each of the
Brownie packs .$165,
Last, but not least; confir-
mation has been received to
the effect that Marie Bar-
trell will present two shows
on Friday night 'of the fair,
