Plan Mcllroy Day
The committee looking
after plans for Eric Mcllroy
Day has established June 6,
1981 as the date for the gala
event. Chairman Mae
Morenz announced recently
that Huron Country
Playhouse will be used for
some of the activities that
day.
Playhouse general
manager Marc Quinn said
that the board of directors
was very anxious to• donate
the playhouse for communi-
ty events, "It's a chance for
the playhouse to give
something away, rather than
constantly asking for con-
tributions," Quinn said.
The Eric Mcllroy Day
committee recently had
letterhead printed. The plan
to send letters to musicians
who were once connected
with Lakeview Casino and
invite theni to the special
day,
It was decided that a stone
cairn with a brass plaque
honouring Mr. Mcllroy
would be erected in the spr-
ing. The committee plans to
erect the plaque on village
property at the corner of
highway 81 and 81 Crescent.
Three estimates on the cost
of erecting the cairn have
been received,
It was also suggested that
the committee set up a small
endowment or scholarship
fund with donations made,
towards the memorial day.
A small award could be
presented annually to a
worthy musical student, The
group decided to wait and
see how many donations
they received before com-
mitting themselves to es-
tablished the fund.
Grand. Bend, and

establish a very successful
scouting program. Last
season a Beavers club was
organized in. Dashwood and a
Cub group was formed in
Grand Bend. This year a
Scouts group has been add-
ed, and plans are in the mak-
ing to form a Venturers club.
One of the organizers, Don
Kobe, 'estimates that more
than 100 people are involved
With the scouting movement
in the two villages, Kobe
says, that although both
villages Were interested in
having Beavers and Cubs,
neither area could find
enough volunteer leaders,
By combining the two
villages, an adequate
number of leaders were
found.
Nine members of the new-
ly formed Scout group were
invested Ttiesday. Assistant
District Commissioner
Wayne Wigglesworth in-
vested the boys, Scouters for
the new group are Jim
Mclvor and Bob Clay.

The first Sunday in Advent
was observed at the morning
service at St. John's. Rev. G.
Anderson took for his text
Chapter thirteen of Judges,
beginning at verse eight,
saying that the true meaning
of Christianity is a study in
the Advent season, and today
many people claim they are
too busy to either accept or
reject Christ.
Coffee hour hostess
following the morning
service was Mrs. Kay Kelly.
United church news
The first Sunday in Advent
was observed Sunday
morning at the United
church. On behalf of all
young girls of the church the

by Tracy Soldan.
Advent is the name the
church gives to the four
weeks immediately before
.the Nativity of J6us, when
we anticipate the coming of
Christ to us.

way", with scripture
