HUGH MORENZ SHIPKA A social gathering was held Sunday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Miller, Steven and Fred, to honor Earl's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Oscar Miller on the occasion of their 75th birthdays this latter part of Novem- ber .Relatives attending. included Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Rader, Exeter, Mr. and Mrs, Reinhold Miller, Mr. and Mrs. Delmar. Miller, Chris. Tim and Patti, Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Miller and Shelley, all of Dashwood area. Friends attending were Mrs, Olive Miller , Mr. and Mrs. Lorne Devine, Ed Turnbull, Grand Bend area, Mr. and Mrs, Melvin Stade, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Devine, Mr. and Mrs. Ken McCrae, Dashwood area, Mr, & and Mrs. Hugh Morenz, Shipka. Mrs, Don Roloson presided, in the absence of the President Mrs. Hamilton Hodgins. Following the W.I. Ode, Mary Stewart Ctglect, and the Lords. Prayer, the business was discussed and taken care of,. Mrs. Clarence Lewis, and. Mrs. Norman Riddell, delegates to the area con- vention gave their reports. The roll call waS answered with "The part of the newspaper I read first" and the motto was "Put your talent in the W.I. and see it multiply" As the topic for the program was Public Relations, it was convened by the P.R.O. Mrs. Chas McRobert who is also a former 4H Club, leader, Mrs. McRobert spoke on the history of the 4H Clubs and gave two readings "Smile" and "Harvest". Mrs. D. St. Dennis who was also on the program, gave a talk on the Saturday evening. A reminder! The Shipka euchre parties will begin on Wednesday evening December 3rd. Mr. and Mrs. Ferman Snyder, attended the funeral last Monday of her uncle, Charles Remel, at Waterloo. Weekend guests with the Snyder's were their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Otto Plein, Christopher and Melissa of Elmira, Mr. and Mrs. John McNeil, Mississauga, and Mr. and Mrs. Marc Danckert, of Thornhill, were Sunday lunch guests with Lorne and Mary Dietrich. The visitors had attended the Dietrich-Cyr, wedding on Saturday. Dairy princess crowns successor Susie Zielman who has been Huron County Dairy Princess for 1980, completed her term of office, last Saturday night at the Brussel's Community Centre, when she crowned her successor, Dianne Oldfield, of RR 4, Seaforth who will represent Huron County as 1981 Dairy Princess. About 300 attended the dinner consisting of milk committe:., members, their wives, contestants and their parents. An open dance followed the dinner. Susie was ac- companied by her parents Dick and Annie Zielman. Two weeks ago Susie was a guest at the Holstein club dinner dance at Blyth. The Medway euchre club The Medway Euchre Club meeting was held at the home of Mr. & Mrs, Cliff McRobert, November 17. Prize winners were the following members ladies, high score, Marion. Hodgins; lone hands, 'Wreathe Bur- nett; low score, Ethel Lewis, and for the men, high score Bill Hodgins; lone hands, Austin Hobbs; low score Carmen Hodgins. Church news At the United Church Rev. Elwood Morden conducted the morning worship on Sunday, Taking the text for his sermon from Timothy 1:16 Rev. Morden entitled it "Clapping and Cheering", Life is a •stage, some people are chosen for centre stage, or the Chorus, then there are the behind the scenes people, makeup, wardrobe etc, but the majority of the people are clapping and cheering. There is real ministry in clapping and cheering said the minister. Encouragement "is something we all can do for people who need it, the Bible is full of people doing just this, Paul when he was in prison was cheered by Onesiphorus, saying, "He gave me vigor, he put power into me, his visits revived me like a breath of fresh air. At St. Thomas Anglican Church Rev. Gregg Smith conducted the service of Morning Prayer. The first scripture lesson was read by Miss Pamela Hill of London, and the second by the Rector. Rev, Smith's sermon was on Stewardship, saying that there were three resources of the church, spiritual, financial, and physical. As next Sunday will be the first in Advent, Holy CM- MAWR will be celebrated at all three Anglican Churches, in special recognition of the Day. St. Thomas' annual bazaar will be held in the Church Hall on Saturday November la from 2-4 p.m. Personals Congratulations are ex- tended to Mrs. Veronica Mitchell a resident of Craigholme Nursing Home Ailsa Craig,, who was honored by her family with a smorgasbord dinner at the Barn Steak House London, on the occasion of her 87th birthday on Sunday November 16. Mrs. Lois Herbert represented Court Valentine Canadian Foresters as their delegate to the 21st annual Western Ontario Provincial Assembly held at the Holiday Inn, Chatham November 21 - 23 . Congratulations are ex- tended to Percy White of London a former resident of Granton on being chosen the Forester of the Year at this assembly. A speedy recovery is wished for Mrs. Wm, Thomson who is a patient in Victory Hospital London recovering from surgery. Sincere sympathy is ex- tended to the family of the late Mrs. Laura (Jones) Love who passed away at St. Joseph's Hospital on Wed- nesday November 19. Community Bible Church Pastor Glen Fretz spoke on the indwelling of the Holy Spirit. The Bible teaches that a Christian is indwelt by the Holy Spirit, the very instant as he accepts Christ as his personal Saviour.
