The courses, each of eight or nine days duration, are aimed at people already far- ming who may lack suf- ficient background to make sound management decisions, says Course Co- ordinator and College Federation Continued from 6A new chairpersons of the Federation committees on Energy, Public Relations, Program and Education, Membership, Properties and Land 'Use, Drainage and Soil Erosion, Taxation and Assessment, Budget and Finance, and Farm Safety and Insurance will be an- nounced and committee lists will be available. There will be reports from the delegates to the OFA Annual Convention, held November 24-26 in Toronto. They will highlight the many issues and resolutions dealt with at the Convention. Anyone sharing any of these . concerns or having new ones the Federation should be aware of, this is the time to come out. Livestock Section Head, Don Luckham. Each session is six hours in length. "Enrolment in each course will be limited to 30 farmers," says Luckham. Five agricultural subject areas will get course work, including Cash Grain Production at Delaware and Tilbury; Farm Business Management at Essex, St. Thomas and Ridgetown; Intensive Dairy Farming at Belmont; at Watford and Ridgetown. Registration for all courses is at Ridgetown College. The emphasis of each course will be on financial management as well as production technology and it is "Our intention to provide agricultural courses that are of primary interest to young, beginning farmers," says Luckham, Funding for the Manage- ment of the Farm Business Courses is being provided by the Canada Employment and Immigration Commis- sion under the Canada Man- power Training Program. According to. statistics released this week by Don Pnllen, Huron's Agrictiltural Representative Huron leads in • five categories and. is second in five others. Huron leads other counties in barley, white beans, rutabagas,. silage corn and total corn and is second in cattle marketings,. total cattle, grain corn, hog. znarketings and total hngs,.. The local county is third in poultry and fotiirth in dairy cattle and shipments and has the, most improved farm. land. Grain corn is the leader in Huron with 196,000 acres worth over $53,430,000.$ilage corn is next with $17,238,000 from 68,090. acres.
