Tuckersmith township council honoured two township teenagers Tuesday night fOr their outstanding achievements in. sports. A plaque Was presented to Rick EloSs, 17, of RR 1 Brucefield, marking his achievement. in canoeing races in Qntario. He won gold medal in the summer games held in Peterborough this year. Lloyd Eisler jr., 17, of Egmondville, received his plaque for his achievement in figure skating.Lloyd had. competed in many com- petitions alone and with a partner. He and his partner, Lori Baler of Mitchell, plac- ed third in pairs in the Junior. World Championship and he has won the novice men's championship as a single. Presently he is training for the world championship competition to be held in London early in 1961. Council endorsed a new policy for the Vanastra recreation centre as propos- ed by recreation director, Diane Durnin. The policy was drawn up following complaints from parents who had children "kicked out" because of mis- behaviour at the centre. The new policy, calls for a report to parents whenever their offsprings are expelled for more than one day from the centre and not permitted to come back to the property for a stated period. Clerk Jack McLachlan said it is hoped this will clear up some problems. Robert Fotheringham was hired to use his snowblower to clear the Line at a cost of $14.00 per hour, up from $20 last year. Council accepted the resignation of Rick Fortune As special needs, activity of- ficer at the Vanas Ira recrea- tion centre effective November 28 as he has accepted another position. Council will advertise for a replacement. A request from. Clarence Denomme of the Clinton Klompenfest committee for a grant of $500 was filed for the new council to deal with when the 1981 grants are decided, The Klompenfest will be held at tulip time May 21 - 23. NEW POSITION — Bill Etherington, son of Mr. and Mrs. Archie Etherington, R.R. 1, Hensall, Ontario has been appointed a Vice President with IBM Canada Limited. He will be located in Vancouver, and have responsibility for' IBM's Data Processing Marketing activities in Western Canada. After leav- ing South Huron District High School, Bill graduated from the University of Western On- tario with a Bachelor of Engineering Science. Since joining IBM in 1964, he has held a number of marketing and management positions in London, Toronto, Winnipeg, Edmonton, New York, and, most recently, Vancouver.
