Institute in the• London area
were reported on and
discussed around the theme,

Bright", and speakers in-

Federated Wonien's
Institute of Canada was
guest speaker at the banquet
meeting of the London area
convention of the Women's
Institutes held in St. Marys,
October 27 and 28.
In her position as national
president she has travelled
frpm Newfoundland to
British. Columbia and his
found both different methods
and common elements in
each province, A strong
fannily unit is a common aim
and concerns about the
environment, child abuse,
communications and the
breakdown of authority.
The aim of the is
to co-ordinate all the
provinces, in spite of their
diversities, and thus to
respond to world issues.
Entertaining with
amusing, light-hearted songs
were the. Mc William male
trio of Elgin County and
during the evening,
scholarships were presented
to Malisa Mezenberg of
Dutton, who is studying
biology at the University of
Guelph and. Leslie Harrison
who is studying social work
at King's College, University
of Western Ontario.
Both girls won Maryn
Pardy scholarships while the
winner' of the 'Helen M.
McKercher award was Josia
Schneider of Tillsonberg who
• is taking Family Studies at
Althouse University.

Two years a go, I 'retired' from public life to devote time to
matters which I thought were important to my family and to
me. After this rest, I am again prepared to serve the Town
to the best of my ability.
