A goal by Gord Moon late
in the third period enabled
the Blues to tie the Greens
and a share of first place
with Hagen's Hackers in the
Lucan Rec hockey league.
Moon also opened the
scoring with the only goal of
the first period. His low shot
from the slot beating Brian.
Noyes who was in the net for
the first time in quite awhile.
Aaron Appleman and Harry
Wraith assisted.
The Green's outscored
their opponents 2-1 in the
second period with Mike
Anderson accounting for
both Green goals. The first
came on a breakaway set up
by Brian Dick and
goaltender Noyes.
The Blues came right back,
when Noyes couldn't control
the rebound of a Gord Moon
shot and Brad England
knocked in the loose puck.
Anderson tied the score
when he deflected a shot past
Blues goalie Ted Ouimet
with Brian Dick and Jim
Thomas assisting on the
play.
Anderson came right back
with the first goal of the final
period, his third of the game

scoring in the second when

Rich Gwalchmai then
broke Wayne Parkinson's
bid for a shutout when he
was left all alone in front of
the net and knocked in his
own rebound with Bill Neil
assisting.
The Hackers struck back
quickly though with three
goals, two by Don Murray
and a shorthanded effort by
Rick Thomas to finish the
second period scoring.
The lone goal of the third
was by Gary Isaac giving
him the hat trick with an
assist going to Dave Hill.
Although the score was

Honestly,
there is a better
way...
to give the Greens the lead.
The Blues however struck
back to tie the game when
Brad England's shot from
the circle eluded. Noyes.
Andy Hardy then gave the
Blues the lead when he
scored on a scramble in front
of the net.
The lead changed hands
again when Gary Revington
tied the score knocking in a
rebound •and Jim Thomas
gave the Greens the lead on
an unassisted, effort, only to
have Moon tie the score
moments later.
In the second game three
goals by Gary Isaac was all
Hagen's Hackers needed as
they trounced. Salon 174 8 to
1.
The game was never in
doubt as the Hackers led 3-0
after one and 7-1 after two.
Isaac started things when
his screen shot found the
mark with Bill Darling
assisting. Brett Fairweather
scored shortly after with
Rick Thomas and Steve
Carter assisting and the rout
was on.
Peter Martens finished the
first period scoring when his

Mr. Smith told board
members it seemed disap-
pointing that the board
would purchase American-
made boilers at a time when
county industries were being
forced to lay off their
employees due to lack of
work. He said Robert Bell
Industries had been in
business for more than 80
years in the area, and that
its employees were all tax-

Charles Smith of Robert
Bell Industiies has proved a
point. Earlier this fall, Mr.
Smith presented a brief to
Huron County board of
education asking it to con-
sider boilers made at the
Seaforth plant instead of im-
porting American boilers.
Recently Glover Hill Inc.
of Thamesford, the contrac-
tor replacing boilers in the
J.A.D. McCurdy School in
Huron Park, purchhsed two
boilers from the local in-
dustry.
In September, Mr. Smith,
concerned over a
recommendation by the
board's consulting engineer,
Ron Egan of London, to
Lucan rec hockey
Tie for first place
his effort in approaching the
board personally paid off in
this case, he said a con-
siderable amount of time
and effort went into making
the presentation to the
board.
The lowest tender for the
purchase and installation of
the boilers was $38,500 sub-
mitted by the Thamesford
contractor.
• Superintendent of educa-
tion John Cochrane said the
board accepted the lowest
tender submitted and asked
the contractor for an alter-
nate price using the Bell
boilers. The contractor then
decided to purchase the
locally-made boilers.
