arrange fall -showing
Kooks held their fifth
meeting on October 27 at the
Pentecostal Church.
Andrea Pearce started the
meeting with the 4-H Pledge,
and the roll call. Patty
Masnica then read the
minutes.
Members talked about
microwave ovens, how it
works and what food to cook
and how to arrange it all in
the microwave.
Members also discussed
the advantages and disad-
vantages of it. and.
toaster-broiler ovens and
how they work.
Next came the making of
, saucy franks and bitty
pizzas, they tasted very

and weavers she had met
there and of the yarns they.

from Iceland.. She also told of
picking wild flowers there.
At the September meeting
Evelyn Hardy of Goderich
who had just returned from a
trip to Newfotitgiland showed
samples :of weaving she had
procured there telling at the
various. groups Who had
encouraged the people of the
outports to learn to weave
to supplement their income..
The raising of sheep was
encouraged and the hand-
spun was mostly knit into
articles to sell to the tourists.
In September also the
group took part in the. Ripley
Fair where the members
took a great number of
prizes in the new spinning
MR. AND MRS. PETER VANDERBURGT
Cynthia Marshall and Peter VanderBurgt were united in
marriage at Sacred Heart Parish, Parkhill on October 11. The
bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Jim Marshall, RR 2 Ailsa
Craig. The groom is the . son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
VanderBurgt, RR 1, Dashwood.' Father R. Charrette officiated!
at the ceremony. Jill Waters was the organist, and Harriet'
Vanos was the soloist. The maid of honour was Judy Marshall,
sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Teresa Marshall, sister of
the bride, and Joanne VanderBurgt, sister of the groom.
Kathy Peters was the flowergirl, a cousin of the groom. The
best man was Paul Lovie, friend of the groom. The ushers were
Leo VanderBurgt, brother of the groom and Richard Marshall,
brother of the bride, Ring bearer was Kevin -Peters, cousin of
the groom. After a honeymoon the couple are residing at 144

Weavers. Guild have been
very interesting and
educational. In June several
Members assisted in a
workshop at the. Huron
County Home Care Centre at
Huronview,
At the July Meeting
Georgina Huls of Listowel
reported on the spinning
seminar she had attended at
York University giving, the
group tips on spinning and
demonstrating Salish
weaving using the poorer
pieces of fleece.
At the August meeting
representatives from the
committee in charge of
refurnishing the Van
Egmond House lathe period
of the original owners at-
tended to discuss the group
the weaving of rugs and
drapes for the house

In October Madeleine
Whalen of Stratford con-
ducted a workshop on
weaving clothing material.
She 'has had a wealth of
experience in this type of
weaving, having won many
prizes in Canada for her
work,
The big event of the year is
the exhibition and sale to be
held at the River Mill,
Benmiller, November 8 and 9
where again different types
of weaving and spinning will
be demonstrated. A new
feature will be handwoven
miniatures created
especially for the new hobby
of miniatures which is
becoming popular in
Canada.
Handwoven garments

,Handspun, yarn knitted or
woven into warm winter
wear, a wide variety of
placernats, scarves etc.

The group would like to
encourage anyone interested

MR. AND MRS. JOHN KLASEN
Jane Rooseboom of Zurich and John Klasen of Hamilton ex-
changed wedding vows October 3, in Exeter Christian
Reformed Church. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs.
William Rooseboom of Zurich and the groom is the son of Mr.
and Mrs. G. P. Klasen of Palmerston. Rev. C. Bischop
ficiated. Maid of honour was Marg Rooseboom of Lethbridge,
Alberta and bridesmaids were Jane Krul of Arthur, Ont.,
Cheryl Denomme of Zurich and Sandra Rooseboom also from
Zurich. Best man was Alfred Spaling of Hamilton. Groomsmen
were Ed Rooseboom of Sarnia, Pete Hansma of Kitchener and
Stan •Klasen of Palmerston. After a honeymoon trip to the
States, the couple will be residing at 968 Trinity Rd.,
Jerseyville, Ont.

to attend and remember to
bring a guest,

Exeter Lioness Club was
held October 27 at the
Masonic Hall.
Guest speaker for the
evening was Joanne Pinney
from Country Flowers,
Joanne gave a demon-
stration on arranging
Christmas decorations and
made two beautiful
decorations which were
raffled off, Winners were
Elaine Pinder and Dorothy
Prout.
The lucky draw winner for
the month was. Fran. Shaw.
October was a busy month
for the Lionesses, Members
of the club donated their
time to plant tulip bulbs in
the mini-parks uptown.
