HomeMy WebLinkAboutTimes-Advocate, 1980-10-29, Page 98Steak Sauce 12 large tomatoes - peeled and cut lengthwise 6 large cucumbers peeled and sliced 6 onions cut lengthwise Put in bowl in layers, Sprinkle with 1/2 cup pickling salt and let stand overnight. Drain in colander 3-4 hours. Sauce 1/4 tsp. cayenne pepper (or less) 4 c. white sugar 1/2 tsp. curry powder (or less) 2 tsp, celery seed 4 tbsp. flour 1/2 tsp. turmeric 1 pt, cider vinegar Boil until thick about 10 min. Add: 1 or 2 beaten eggs 1/2 c. vinegar Cook until thick stirring all the time. Remove from heat and add 1 tbsp. butter.
