(Saich) Roberts, of London, former- ly a resident of this area. Mrs. Roberts passed away October 19, at University Hospital, London in her 82nd year. Predeceased by her husband Coryell A.E. Roberts, and one son Kenneth (1975). Survived by two daughters, Mrs. Hazel Parkes and Mrs. Jerry (Marilyn) Ferrington, both of London and one son Jack C. Roberts, of Oakville, one sister Miss C. Queenie Saich, London, ten grandchildren, four great-grandchildren. Funeral service was held at Needham Memorial Chapel, with Rev. M.F. Harlow, D.D, of First Bap- tist Church officiating. Interment was at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens. Presi- dent, Diane Sexton, presid- ed, Guest speaker was Larry Coughlin, from the March of Dimes. He, presented an entertaining and infor- mative Mm, followed by a talk concerning the various ways, in which assistance is given to physically han- dicapped adults in Ontario. Members of the Lioness club will be convassing for donations to the March of Dimes campaign later this winter. A bake sale and craft show will be held by the Grand Bend Nursery School, at the United Church on November 22nd from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Proceeds will go to purchase equipment for the nursery school. During the coming months, Lioness members will be selling various types of cheese, produced by the Tavistock Union Cheese Company for your enjoy- ment` during the holiday season. Proceeds go to com- munity betterment. Contact any Lioness member to place your order. Grand Bend Lions are holding a children's. Halloween party October 31st, 7:3Q p.m, at Grand Bend. Congratulations to Exeter Lioness club on their recent charter night. C.W.L. meets Twenty-five ladies attend- ed the Catholic Women's League meeting held last Tuesday evening at the Alhambra Hall. Guest speaker was Carol Thar, from Carol's Craft Cupboard in Grand Bend, She dis- played local handmade crafts and explained how they were made. Among the items were woodwork, sew- ing, knitting, stuffed toys Arthur Baker and great grandchildren. Mr. Baker was pleasantly surprised upon receiving a call from his granddaughter in Florida. He would like to thank all who remembered him with cards, flowers and visits. Dash wood vote for one Ratepayers in the police village of Dashwood will be going to the polls on November 10 to elect one trustee. Contesting the vacant spot are Nancy Rader and Robert Boogemans as the result of a second nomination. Incumbent trustees George Tieman and Kenneth Rader were returned by acclamation a week earlier. Emilie Finlay of Exeter won first prize in the recipe contest sponsored by J.W.' Eedy Publications. Mrs. Finlay's recipe for "Watermelon Pickles" was pulled from several hundred recipes entered in the contest. She received $25 in the lucky draw. Second prize of $15 went to Dorothy Patterson of St. Marys. Her recipe for "Potato Balls" was drawn. Third prize of $10 went to Joanne Pickering of Lakeside for her recipe for "Split Pea Soup"• All of these recipes and many, many more are featured in the J.W. Eedy publications cookbook, "Cooking For Fun". The cookbook is available with this week's newspaper, or you may purchase it at the Times-Advocate office in Exeter for $1.00. Pinery OPP Highway Traffic act charges again top the list of charges laid by Ontario Provincial Police at Pinery Park. During the week of October 19 to 25, 20 people were charged under the highway traffic act. There were 10 liquor licence act charges laid. One break and enter and one theft were investigated. Street). south of the bridge in Grand Bend will be com- pletely closed off today (Wednesday) for sewer con- struction. Through traffic will be routed through Greenway. Arrangements have been. made for emergency vehicles to get through, but all other traffic will be limited. Discussion was on possible projects or speakers for this winter, Some suggestions were on (C.P.R.) Cardiac PulmonaryResuscitation, or general first aid, and to learn about health foods, Plans are underway to make and raffle a quilt. Next meeting will be November 18, at 8 p.m. at the Alhambra Hall: 4-H club news Grand Bend 4-H clubs, number two and three held their last regular meetings. Roll calls were, "The most interesting idea and my favorite recipe during this club". They had a quiz on club activities, and problems to solve on what electric appliances to use in an emergency. For Achieve- ment day Club 2, "Partying Pals" are doing an exhibit on "Stir frying for the fun of it". Their club leaders have been Barb Meloche and Nor- ma Walper, and press reporter Tracey Meloche. Club 3, "Foodaholics", are doing a presentation on the "Versatile electric fry pan", with speech and posters for Achievement day. Their club leaders have been Laura Desjardine and Diana Hardy with Patti Love, press repor- ting. Church of God Twenty-two young people land their leaders met last Saturday night at the home of Jim and Judy Snyder for a Halloween party with all in costume. Group games were enjoyed, and devotions on, "The mask of life", was led by Rev. John Campbell. At the Sunday evening ser- vice, following the worship service, the children and youth assembled in the S.S. rooms for a time of stories, singing and Bible games. Upstairs, the adults did a study on Philippians. Anglican Church At the morning service at St. John's by the Lake Anglican Church, Rev. G. Anderson based his sermon on Ephesians. chapter six, verse ten, on St. Paul's letter on how to live a Chris- tian life. He said, to have a peaceful life is to be in touch with God through prayer — anytime, anyplace. Coffee hour hostesses following the service were Mrs. Elizabeth Brownlee and Mrs. Irene Brock. United Church Mr. Paul Schott, of Cen- tralia, conducted morning service at Grand Bend United Church, while Rev. H. Moore conducted Sacraments in the Centralia churches. Mr. Schott's sermon topic was "Our Greatest Foe", with scripture from Romans: 18-30. Choir anthem today was, "Joyful Joyful we adore Thee", Soloist, Marlene Brenner sang, "An evening prayer". Sharon Soldan presided at the organ today. that their November meeting will be held one week later, on November 12th, due to the fowl supper being held at the United Church on November 5th. Mrs. Loretta Williams, of Port Huron visited a few days last week with Mrs. Susie Devine. Seventeen Grand Bend Golden Age members attended the Fall Rally, of Zone 8, United Senior Citizens of Ontario, last Wednesday at Dashwood Community Centre.
