Snow removal on Vanastra
roads will be carried out by

Eleven Hensall area
ratepayers signed a petition
requesting council to have
spilled garbage picked up on
the Hensall road between the
village and its garbage
dump.
The petition expressed the
concern of the ratepayers
that new weeds might be
introduced to farms along
the Hensall road from
cleanings being transported
to the dump from the grain
mills in the village. Council
will investigate the problems
and take action.
Council accepted the
resignation of Susan Norris
from the Vanastra day care
centre. She has accepted a
position at the Ann
Hathaway schoolinStratford.
Applications for three tile
drainage loans were ac-
cepted by council for a total
of $15,700.
Robert Cook of Hensall
attended the meeting to
discuss his concern about a
drainage problem he has on
111S farm from the Hensall
drain,
request for a council
representative to be named
to a committee to investigate
what should be done for the
large stone gates at
Vanastra, was put forward
for the 1981 council to con-
sider,. The gates were at the
entrance to the former
'Canadian Forces. Base but
the entrance was closed off
because it was declared a
traffic hazard on the side of
the hill on NO, 4 Highway,
following the closure of the
Base.
Passed for payment were
road accounts amounting to
$29,770.13, general accounts
of $27,051,79, Vanastra day
care accounts, $5,044.66 and.
Vanastra recreation centre
accounts, $12,432.38, for a
total of $74,298.96.
Asked for a comment by
the Huron County severance
committee, council agreed it
had no objection to a
severance request by Wayne
Hugill for a five-acre lot.
Council set the fees for its
deputy returning officers for
the upcoming municipal
election in November at $50,
The Women's Institute
Huron County Rally was held
at Gorrie United Church on
Monday, when nearly 100
women gathered to hear
Mrs. Flora Nabrotzky,
florist, speak on the growing
of house plants and todiscuss
business. Miss Nabrotzky'
said to use imagination with
plants using small figurines
etc. to make attractive
displays, and had many
attractive plantings to show
her audience.
Mrs. M. Batkins spoke
about Huron County
Historical Society's
meetings which have been
well attended in spite of a
small drop in membership.
Thirteen books have been
donated to the Huron County
Libarary in memory of Mrs.
Robert Simpson of Hensall.
Mrs. Simpson had a large
collection of clippings
regarding, pioneers of

daughter has donated these
to the Historical Society -
they are irreplacable. The

chair or a councillor chair.
Deputy Reeve Robert Bell
at an earlier meeting
declared his intention to try
reeve of the township and
Reeve Ervine Sillery at that
time said he would not run
against the deputy reeve.

Family and Children's
Society of Goderich, Mrs.
Peggy Rivers told of the use
of the Huron County
Women's Institute Nursury •
this year; two girls are
being helped through
Community College. She also
informed us of a volunteer
programme which is helping
the society financially to
fulfill their duties.
In the absence of the Home
Economist, Miss Lauralee
Marshall, her report was
read and the members were
told of Miss Grace Bird's
transfer to Middlesex.
During the afternoon, a
gift was given to Karen
Whitmore who has com-
pleted 24 4-H projects and the
Women's Institute
Scholarship was presented to
Diane Godkin, Walton. The
Rally will be held in Huron
West in 1981.
