Most of this drop was due to..a 13 percent decline in beef consumption, On the other hand, pork consumption rose by about 13:6 percent. as consumers took advantage of lower pork prices. consumption of chicken and other poultry products also rose last year. Canadians ate 39 pounds of Chicken per capita in, 1979 compared to about 35 pounds the previous year. Alternative protein sources such as eggs and cheese were also more popular. Canadians ate almost one pound more of eggs and egg products last year than the year befere. Per capita consumption of cheddar and specialty cheeses increased by about two pounds over the same Period. Most other dairy products, including skim milk powder and ice cream showed an increase in consumption in 1979 after a decline the previous year. Consumption of butter continued to show a slow decline, but this may change in MO because of industry advertising. Increases in the price of wheat affected the amount of wheat flour products eaten by Canadians in 1979. Con- sumption last year dropped to about 125 pounds per Canadian compared to about 136 pounds the year before. CHRIS COUPERUS Lynne Baptie and Chris Couperus were united in marriage at Centralia United Church on July 26. The bride is the daughter of Mrs. Joyce Baptie, Huron Park, and the groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs, Meine Couperus, Brantford. The bride was given in marriage by her grandfather, Mr. Wm. McKinnell, of Edin- burgh, Scotland. Matron of honour was Elaine Runalls, sister of the bride. Bridesmaids were Ann Couperus, sister of the groom, Denise and Michelle Baptie, sisters of the bride.
