Grand Bend council
Monday night approved an
expenditure of up to $2,000
for a concept plan for a
recreation building in the
village.
Deputy-reeve Judy Uniac
reported on behalf of the
recreation property com-
mittee, She said Deleon,
planning consultants would
do the work.
Proposed on the property
located behind the Legion
property is a community
centre type building and
regulation fields for soccer
and baseball.
The property was pur-
chased a few years ago by
the Grand Bend Lions club
and it has now been turned
over to the village.
Members of the Lions and
Lioness clubs are on the
recreation property com-
mittee which is n charge of
the proposed construction.
Mrs, Uniac said a building
of 60 feet by 100 feet has been
suggested.
She continued, "What the
concept plan really will be is
to decide what we can put on
the property we now have."
At the same meeting
council decided to delay a
decision on a request from
Rice Construction for a
mobile park development on
the former 'Patterson farm
at the south-east portion of
the village.
' On the advice of Lambton
planner Richard Hall and
solicitor Dan Murphy council
decided to delay until a site
plan is received.
The Rice proposal would
be for 231 sites, similar to
their present Grand Coves
Estates development at the
northerly edge of Grand
Bend in Stephen township.
Approval was given for
construction of footings, well
and floor for a new
washroom at a cost of
$1,599.60.
In connection with sewer
control, council passed a
motion authorizing road
work.
Alberta Street and Sauble
Road will be replaced with 12
inches of B gravel, six inches
of A gravel, two inches of
asphalt and two catch
basins.
The cost to the village on
these two streets will be
about $6,000.
Road formen Garry
Desjardine suggested to
council that an extra one
inch of asphalt be added to
the whole length of Lake
Road.
Desjardine also recom-
mended that Gibbs. Park and
Dietrich Crescent be left
with A gravel until all the
house connections are made.
After meeting with
Lambton County planners
Bill Hall and Janet Gillies,
solicitor Dan Murphy and
the Grand Bend planning
board council decided to
withdraw an objection to a
zoning amendment by
Bosanquet township at part
of Lot 3 LRE Concession.
Council voiced no op-
position to a request from
Dale's Sunoco to use a
portion of the former
Desjardine property as a
run-in to the service station,
Reeve Bob Sharen asked
councillors to give some
thought to making property
owners responsible for
collecting transient trader
licence fees when com-
pleting rental arrangements.
A letter from the Ministry
of Natural Resources
outlined new prodecures for
the Shoreline Protection Act.
A request from Mona
Finch to combine three lots
for one sewer connection was
granted.
Council learned from
Lambton county librarian
Ron Baker that a large
number of books had been
donated by Don and Elma
Kunz of Grand Bend.
Mr. Baker said in a letter
to a neighbour Mrs. H.M,
Meyer, "Many of the books
will be valuable additions to
our library system."
He continued,"It's our
policy to rotate all books
among the 25 county
libraries and not possible to
keep all books at Grand
Bend" but, he assured they
will be appreciated by other
residents in the county.
Requests to two Ontario
Ministries for assitance in
projects received similar
negative answers.
The Ontario Ministry of
Tourism replied that they
did not have any programs to
assist municipalities in
purchasing equipment to
clean up beaches.
The Ministry of Tran-
sportation and Com-
munications reported that
