There will be an annual meeting to be held in Wingham September 24 at the town hall. Hockey registration was held Satur- day and tonight (Wednesday) from 7 to 9 p.m. There will be family passes for hockey again this season at $12.00. The group is going to try ringette for the girls this year. There will be a minor hockey dance on October 18. Next meeting to be held September 22 at 7 p.m. Please come. Good attendance There was a very large attendance at the United Church Sunday morning when the congregation observed Christian Educa- tion Sunday and the opening day of the Sunday Church School. During the service the Sunday School teachers were presented and install- ed. Teachers for the Sunday school this year will be: nursery department, Pam Scotchmere and Starr Jesney; kindergarten department. Cathy Geiger and Dana Bozatto; primary department. Heather Forrest and Marilyn Pepper; junior department, Joyce Pepper and Sharon Beaver; intermediate department, Sharon Wurm; senior department, George Parker and Pat Cook. Bar- bara Gackstetter is the superintendent and Florence Slade the secretary- treasurer with Glenn Slade and Scott Jesney the audio visual directors. The choir under the direc- tion of Dr. Topp sang a very 'beautiful anthem "0 God Our Help In Ages Past". The children's story was "Things Missing". The ushers for the day were Steve Sararas, Ross Veal, Eric Mansfield and Cecil Pepper, Pat O'Brien greeted the congregation. At the, close of the service. Mr. Mcdonald introduced the choir, along with their teachers, to the congrega- tion. The Sunday Church School staff of the United Church met on Friday evening to make final preparation for the opening of Sunday School. With extra classes this year rooms were assign- ed and curriculum outlined, Plans were also made for ex- tra activities for the students with a Christmas party on December 12 and a skating party with film night in March. The staff will meet again on Monday, September 22 to begin plans and preparation for their White Gift Sunday and Pageant which will be presented on Sunday, November 30. Queensway residents attend Western Fair A number of residents of Queensway Nursing home attended the Western Fair last Monday and enjoyed it very much. Mrs. Beatrice Taylor visited with her mother Mrs. Volland, Mrs. Pollen, Mrs. Hazel Snell. Mr, and Mrs. Mervyn Dunn visited with Mrs. Louise Mitchell. Mr. and Mrs, Andrew McDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Soetboer and Don visited Mrs. Rozen- dal. Chester and Ma Dunn, Mervyn and Irene Dunn visited Vera Lammie. Ruby and Bill Triebner, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Triebner and Bill Renning visited Mrs. Triebner. Russell Erratt was visited by Bill and Helen Taylor and Cathy Patterson. Attend church at Kintail A number of members of Carmel Presbyterian Church attended a con- gregational service at Camp Kintail on Sunday with Rev. Kenneth Knight conducting the service followed by a noon luncheon and social time. Unit One Hensall UCW held Mrs. Walter Spencer presided for the September 2 meeting of Unit One of the UCW of Hensall United Church. Institutions and families appeared to have stopped discussing relevant questions and have forfeited their influence. One example of MVE is an exercise called Life Raft. Another exercise based on the value of human life, These exercises of thought being led by the teacher and each child participates lest no final moral issue is given by the teacher, leaving our youth to make their own moral judgement. Lorna read the scripture John 14; 1-6 using as her theme Let Not Your Heart Be Troubled. Lorna followed the message by a poem Overheard in an Orchard. This she followed by prayer and the Lord's prayer in un- ison. The minutes were read, roll call taken, offering received and dedicated. Mrs. Don Joynt conducted the business discussing our general meeting at 7 p.m. October 6 a special speaker to be secured. They will be visiting at Queensway in Oc- tober. •Letters from our adopted girl read. WMS meet President Mrs. Florence Hyde presided for the September meeting of Carmel Presbyterian WMS on Monday evening and opened with a poem Harvest. She gave the topic comparing B.P. which meant so many things one can do through life, which was most interesting. Mrs. Esther Wright led in prayer. The offering was received and dedicated by Mrs. Hyde. The fall rally will be held on October) 8 at 1:30 p.m. Correspondence was read and a discussion over a ser- vice followed with Mrs. Lloyd Mousseau, Mrs. Al Hoggarth and Mrs. Robert Taylor on the committee.
