Fifty-nine members of the
Sunshine and Busy Buddies
groups and their friends
attended the musical "Annie
Get Your Gun" at the Huron
Country playhouse Wed-
nesday afternoon, All
reported that it was a super
show and they had enjoyed it
very much.
A delicious supper was
also enjoyed on the way
home when the Lieury
United Church Women
catered for a roast beef
dinner with "all the fixinsi"
Regular meetings com-
menced Thursday afternoon
with some new executive
members taking office. The
president remains the same,
Mildred Hirtzel, the
secretary is Mary Kooy,
treasurer Edythe Murdy,
social, Florence Hodgins and
Alice Hodgson, Flowers and
visiting Helen. McDonald and
Mary Scott and euchre will
be convened by members in
alphabetical order each
week.
The president thanked all
who had assisted her last
year and asked for
assistance from everyone
this yeir.
Muriel Cobleigh, the new
treasurer for the Busy
Buddies Craft group
reported that over $600 had
been realized from the fair
booth.

Lucan Women's Institute in
the Masonic Hall (lower
floor) next Wedneday
September 17 at $ p.m.
Convener of Education and
Cultural Activities, Marjery
Crozier, is in charge of the
meeting on the theme "How
to relate to the loss of a loved
one". •
A panel composed of
Father J.P. Finn, Rev.
Bruce Pocock and Mr,and
Mrs. Clarence Haskett will
be discussing the topic and
will be open to questions
from the audience,
Members - the business
meeting is at 7:30.
Crash costs
hit $8,000
Damages were listed at
$8,000 in the only accident in-
vestigated this week by 'of-
ficers of the Lucan detach-
ment of the Ontario Provin-
cial Police.
Saturday at 1:40 a.m. a
vehicle driven by Lynn Ker-
naghan, R.R. 1, Komoka
went out of control on Coun-
ty road 20, 1 kilometer north
of Highway 22 and rolled
over in the ditch.
The driver and two
passengers suffered minor
injuries only. The in-
vestigating officer was
Constable D.N. Marshall.

The "food" Committee was
named for the visit of the
group from Montrose,
Michigan, on October 9 - the
social committee, plus Mary
Scott and Elsie Gobson with
the men coming to set up
tables, The trip to the
"Tommy Hunter show
taping" is scheduled for
Friday, September 26 and
tickets will be on sale
tomorrow, Thursday,
Bowling commences
today, Wednesday, at 1:30
and all seniors or near
seniors are invited to share
in this activity. If you can't
bowl come and learn - its
good exercise!

for the Japanese
Bowling
underway
The inter-town bowling
season got underway
Saturday with the two Lucan
men's teams at home and the
Ladies in Stratford.
Lucan two won all of their
games with Bob Newell
leading the way with a 325
single and 1262 total for five
games followed by Jim
Smith's 269.1116 and Jeff
Park 245-1049.
Lucan Lanes lost their first
game, but came back to min
the nextf our, with Bob Smith
having a personal high of
1395 for five games. He
bowled singles of 305, 307,
267, 244 and 272.
Glen Gagan also had a fine
day with 264, 226, 280, 313, 246
- 1329,
The ladies team could only
manage to win one game
with Audrey Watt having the
high triple of, 588 and Janice
Abram 585.
BANTAMS WIN
The Lucan bantam girls
team, Grade 9 and 10
students„ won the B.M.W.
(Biddulph, McGillivray,
West WilliamS) Trophy, for
the second year, in Lieury on
Wednesday evening, playing
Lieury. They won three
games to one which, by the
way, is the only game they
have lost in two years.
Coaches are Barb Wraith
and Harry Hardy and
statisticianMarg Carroll. The
previous day, Tuesday, the
14 girlsiplus Barb, Harry and
wife Jean and Marg enjoyed
luncheon at the Garage
Restaurant, London.
Teenagers
are invited
The Lucan Youth Group
held a preliminary meetng
on Sunday evening in the
United Church. Various
program and activity
suggestions were discussed .
The next meeting will be
Sunday evening at 7:30 ih
Holy Trinity Anglican
Church. All teens of high
school age are invited to join
this interesting group.

of the Sunshine Group played
Euchre with prizes going as
follows: Lady's High,
Margaret Carter; Lone
Hands. Jessie Lewis; Low,
KaeNeil; Man's High, Grace
Dixere, Lone Hands; Mary
Scott; Low, Alice Hodgson;
all playing men's cards.
Come on there men, better
get some more senior men
out and give the women
more competition!

Hazel Williams and Marie
Turner.
The minor soccer season
has been completed in Luean
and a number of teams won
championships ever . the
weekend.
' The squirt Blizzards
finalized a perfect unbeaten
season by defeating the
Lucan Spurs 1-0 in Satur-
day's final, playoffs.
Eddie Van Kerkoerle and
Paul 'Wanders scored for the
Blizzards while John.
Marshall• replied for the
Spurs.
The Blizzards were coach-
ed, by Cavin Monger and
Alec Hyde and the Spurs
coaches were Neville Clark
and Dave Cain.
The atom team coached by
Harold Dukeshire finished
on top of the leave in the
regular season with an un-
defeated record.
They went on to win the
playoffs in Exeter Saturday
beating the Exeter l's 3-1.
Terry Ouimet scored two
goals and Sandy Hyde added
a single score.
In mosquito competition,
the Lucan team coached by
Jim Craig and Ron Annis
also went through the season
undefeated.
In Saturday's playoff in
Lucan they lost their first
game to Ailsa Craig on
penalty shots. However,.
they came back to beat Ex-
eter 4-0 to win the "II"
trophy, Scoring one goal .
each were Matthew WelSh,
Mike Diallabough, Pieter
Molencamp and Mike Can-
non.
The senior girls finished
their season on a successful

Attending the 42nd Elgin
County plowing match,
Saturday were Clare Paton,
son Jim, daughter barlene
and "Queen of the Furrow"
Carolyn Adams of Birr.
Clare acted as coach for all
three who won prizes as
follows: Jim in the 18 years
and under, first and also won
the "Special" for 14 to 18
years. Carolyn first in the
Ladies' Class and Darlene a
third in the same class.
Trophies were net
presented, as they have to
stay in Elgin County, but the
young people won cash
prizes. Congratulations to
all.
The match was held at the
St. Thomas Psychiatric
Hospital farm.

and we need to use it to
discover all the capabilities
God has given us. It is God's
instruction book and
describes how to live a full
abundant life here and now,
