Seniors at Playhouse By JOY SCHEIFELE Many of the Craigwiel Gardens seniors were able to enjoy live theatre this summer as they took in performances of "The Life That Jack Built" at Blyth, and "Annie Get Your Gun" at the Huron Country Playhouse. Shopping needs were met with an expedition to both London and Strathroy. Other outings included taking in the Zurich Bean Festival, a visit to Jim Mitchell's bird sanctuary in St. Marys and Murray Mitchell's private zoo in the country. Nor did all the enjoyment of the summer take place away from home. Many made good use of the shuf- fleboard court and a lot of fun games took place. in Hamilton where she at- tended school and graduated from McMaster University with her D.A. in 1977. She studied theology at Knox College in Toronto, and graduated this spring, On May 20 she was for- mally ordained into the ministry at the Eastmount Presbyterian Church in Hamilton and t became the current youngest ordained Minister within the Presbyterian Church. However, in many ways the ministry is far from new to Maureen. Shortly after her birth her father also graduated from Knox College and for the past 17 years has been minister at the Eastmount Church in Hamilton. Her mother is also actively involved in her own right presently serving as Presbytery Deaconess in Hamilton as a hospital visitor. As such she is responsible for visiting in five hospitals in Hamilton. In addition, Maureen has one brother "who is perfectly normal", she quips. A By JOY SCHEIFELE As of January 1, 1981 Craigholme Nursing Home's Administrator, Nelson Scheifele, will assume a new position. He recently ac- cepted an offer to act as Assistant to the President of Conrad Grebel College, Waterloo, Ontario. For the past seven years, Mr. Scheifele has served as Adminstrator of Craigholme Nursing Home and Executive Director of Craigwiel Gardens, Ailsa Craig. Throughout this period Craigholme increased from a 23 bed facility to the new 73 bed home, the completion of 22 apartments for senior citizens and an activity centre for the use of resident and local seniors. In addition plans are currently being laid for future expansion of the nursing home and more senior apartments. "The past seven years have been busy and demanding, but I knew the people of the Ailsa Craig community were being served". Prior to his affiliation with Craigholme Nursing Home, he was principal of the Craigwood School at Ailsa Craig for five years, and taught at Baden and oose Factory prior to that. He is an active member of the Nairn Mennonite Church and heavily involved in the work of the church on the broader scene. In addition he has continued an extensive involvement in the Ontario Nursing Home Association, and community organizations.
