EUMVILLE
Sunday morning worship
at Elimville United Church
was a celebration service
observing the 200th birthday
of Sunday Schools. Many
members of our church
family attended.
Pastor Flargreaves was
assisted by superintendents
Brian Pym and Larry
Skinner.
The pupils and teachers
entered the sanctuary
carrying flags and banners
and assembled in their
classes for the service.
Mrs. Gerry Grubb and son
Glen gave the Call to Wor-
ship. Scripture readings
were given by Catherine
Johns, Kim Prance, Lori
Kerslake and Steve
Wilkinson.
A dialogue on the history of
Sunday School was read by
Tracey Coward and Donna
Kerslake.
Thirty children and young
people walked through a
white archway to receive
diplomas and seals in
recognition of their faithful
attendance, during the past
year.
Delmar Skinner, Mrs.
Gilbert Johns and Joan
Cooper contributed to a time
of sharing as they related
some of their meaningful
experiences, in their years of
attending Sunday School.
Each lit a candle on the
birthday cake which was
later cut by Mrs, William
Routley.
She became a member of
Elimville Sunday School
sixty-nine years ago and has
been actively involved many
of those years. Mrs. Routley
said, "I'm so happy and
thankful to be at this service
to-day."
Following the service
veryone enjoyed birthday
