The Kirkton Bantam boys
completed their regular
season of softball play with
an 11-6 record.
The team is now playing
off against New Hamburg in
their second round of league
play offs. They advanced to
the second round after
defeating Fullarton.
This series went to the full
three games with Kirkton
winning the first 4-1.
Fullarton the second 8-1 and
Kirkton the third 6-0.
Maurice Vandewalle, Dale
Robinson and Scott Brintnell
each hit a home run during
the series.
Recently, Kirkton
defeated New Hamburg 5-4
in the first game of the best
of three game series. Eight

The Kirkton boys took
their first round of O.A.S.A.
in two games straight
against Tavistock. Kirkton
had four hits in the first
game winning by a score of
3-2.
Dale Robinson hit a triple,
and Donald Stroud, Mark
Bearss, and Jeff Brookshaw
each singled. Tavistock had
four hits as .well. Brintnell
was the winning pitcher with
six strikeouts.
The score of the second
game was 5-2. Kirkton now
meets Fullerton in their
second round of O.A.S.A.

Despite intermittent rain,
the annual boys and girls
bantam fastball tournament
at Kirkton Monday proved to
be very successful.
Lucan won the boys "A"
championship while Hensall
took the consolation title,
The girls "A" crown was
won by Hibbert with Exeter
winning the consolation.
Lucan took the boys title
with a close 6-4 win over
Lieury while Hensall edged
Huron Park 13-11.
In earlier games, Lieury
beat Huron Park 9-4 and
Lucan trounced Hensall 20-4.
Hibbert defeated Exeter
12-7 in the "A" final and
Exeter won the consolation
by defeating Elimville 29-11.

top spot with two wins and an
aggregate of 30.
LizLamport was third with
an aggregate of 27 followed
by Stan Mitchell, Edith
Love, Bill Lamport and Tom
Walker.
Roy Blanchard was the
best in Thursday's play with
an aggregate of 24 to go with
two victories. Emma
Campbell was second with
Bill. Rogerson, Percy
Campbell and Leone Brock
deadlocked for third place.
Lawrence Russell was next.
In Saturday's action,
Clarence Down compiled an
aggregate of 28 to take, top
honours.
Rose Blanchard and
Gertrude Hamilton were tied
for second spot. They were
followed by Anna Ballan-
tyne, Bill Rogerson and Alvin
Pym.
The Crediton Cowgirls
have taken a one game lead
in their district ladies fast-
ball league semi-final series
with Ailsa Craig,
The Cowgirls came up
with a run in the bottom of
the seventh inning Monday
night to edge Ailsa Craig 6-5.
The second game was
played last night, Wednes-
day in Ailsa Craig with a
third if necessary in
Crediton, Monday night.
The Crediton club
defeated East Williams 21-10
Thursday night to reach the
league semi-finals.
The winner of the
Crediton-Ailsa Craig series
will meet either Lucan or
Parkhill for the league
championship.
A single by Sandy O'Neill
with two out in the bottom of
the seventh sent Shelley
Weber home with Monday
night's winning run.
Ailsa Craig scored two
runs in the top of the seventh
to get back on even terms at
5-5.
Singles by Wilma
Lagerwerf, Sandy O'Neill
and Sherry Pfaff produced
the first Crediton run in the
second and Deb Lord tripled
and scored in the third.
Sandy O'Neill homered for
the Cowgirls in the fourth
and Carol Stuart singled and
scored on a similar hit by
Merna Scott in the fifth.
Faye Hayter singled and
scored the fifth Crediton run
in the sixth on a hit by Carol
Stuart,
Merna Scott was the win-
ning pitcher for the Cowgirls
allowing five well scattered
hits.
In Thursday's win over
East Williams, the Cowgirls
scored in every inning but
thefourthon the way to their
21-0 win.
Carol Stuart led the
Crediton team at the plate
with two home runs and a
pair of singles.

New Hamburg won the
second game Friday night,
however defeating Kirkton 3-
2, thereby taking the series
to the third and final game.
NewHamburg had two hits
with their 'pitcher McMaster
recording six strikeouts.

An attempt will be made to
organize a touch football
league for men this year
again in Exeter.
John Gillespie reported
this week that anyone
wishing to participate in the
sport should turn out to the
South Huron District High
School grounds this coming
Sunday morning at 11 a.m.
Gillespie said he would like
to have at least four teams
playing each Sunday mor-
ning during the fall season.
Seven players would play
for each team at one time
and Gillespie said about 10
players would be ideal for
each team.
Ironwood
- In regular play of the
ladies club at the Ironwood
golf course, hidden score
winners were Helen Burton,
Joyce Morgan, Vivian
Cowan, Mabel Robbins and
Edith Boyle.
The door prize was won by
Pat Fletcher. Playoffs
continue this week.
