United Church
Sunday at the Lucan-
Clandeboye combined
services in the Lucan
Church, Murray and Iva
Hodgins were in charge of
the service.
A new Creed was repeated
in unison, as was much of
the service, with ten af-
firmations of Faith being
given. Mary DeGraw and
Shirley Jones sang "The
Trinidadian Lord's Prayer"
in place of the congregation
reciting it, and during the
offering they sang
"Beautiful Garden of
Prayer". Doug Barr ac-
companied them on the
piano and played the organ
for the hymns.
Dorothy Dedells gave
another of her lovely stories
for the children as they
gathered at the front of the
church prior to going to Jr,
Congregation with her.
Another type of presen-
tation of the Lord's prayer
was given by the leaders
entitled , "If God should
Speak" which, hopefully,
made us all realize that
many times we do not think
of what we are saying as 'we
repeat the prayer Jesus
taught his disciples. Murray
was the "hidden" voice of
God with Iva repeating the
phrases of the prayer.
A meditation by Ernest 0.
Hauser, "The Prayer Jesus
Taught" was also given by
Iva, and the scripture
reading was selected verses
tin prayer. Anyone wishing a
copy of "If God should
Speak" may contact the
Lucan correspondent, at 227-

Liberty, and apply this to our

Bruce Shaw read the 103
Psalm in opening the
evening service, before
leading the singing. Mr.
Shaw spoke from fromlsaiah
42:6-9 abd Gal. 3:1-6 and 5:1,
on the force of righteousness,
which is essential to become
mature Christians. We need
to stand forth in the liberty
Christ has given us, knowing
who we are in Christ.
Social status determines
who we are in the world, but
not in God's kingdom. Social
status holds us in bondage,
but as Christians we are set
free from that. 11 Corin-
thians 5:17-21 shows we
become a new species of
being when we accept Christ.
