In the 5-0 win, Derek
Cockram scored three goals
while singles were booted by

turned in an excellent game
on defence and Steven Clark
gained the shutout.

The plizzards squirt team
Rev, Charles Scott,
London, the Padre at the
London Psychiatric Hospital
and chairman of the Division
of Communications for
London Conference was the
guest speaker for the
Couples' Club who were in
charge of Sunday's service.
Mr. Scott spoke on "The
New Life" and said that,
while the incarnation of the
Lord Jesus ChriSt seems to
come only at Christmas, he
believes rebirth may con-
tinue all year.
God is personal and
conscious of others, said Mr.
Scott, because He said to
Jesus go and work in the
universe and reconcile it. We
too should be personal,

won twice by beating Exeter
I 3-0 and Exeter II by a score
of 2-1.
In the first game Todd
Hyde was ,a two goal scorer
and -Paul"Manders added a
single score while Eddie Van
Kerkeerle and Todd Hyde
each scored once in the
other. Chris Welsh got the
shutout.
Sandy Hyde scored three
goals, Terry Ouimet booted
two goals and Mike Annis hit
for one as the Lucan atoms
defeated Exeter 6-1.
Ron Van Geel recorded the
shutout and single goals
were scored by Pieter
Molencamp, Mike Arts, Jeff
Reymer and Simon Mould as
the Lucan atoms blanked
Exeter 4-0.
In other games, the Lucan
bantams lost 2-0 to Tax-
andria and the junior girls
were defeated 1-0 by
Westmount.

Ministry in music was
provided by the "Daybreak
Group" who sang five
numbers during the service.
Members of the group are,
Paul Sharrow, Grand Bend,
Bob Heywood, Centralia,
George Melanson, Lucan,
and Karen Dykeman, with
pianist Marilyn Dykeman,
both of Lucan area. The
young men each sang lovely
solo parts in the group
numbers.
Dorothy Dedells told a
delightful story to the many
children gathered at the
front of the church, prior to
retiring for Jr.
Congregation.
The flowers in the sanc-
tuary were from the funeral
of the late Wilbert Stanley
and the love and sympathy of
the congregation is extended
to the family.
Ed Melanson led in the
service with Pain Wright
reading the scriptures.
Bob Patterson and Howard
Wright were the welcoming
committee this week.
Tomorrow, Thursday,
morning, the Prayer and
Share Group meets in the
C.E. Wing at 9:45.
Next Sunday Murray and
Iva Hodgins will be in charge
of the service on the theme
"Prayer" with Mary
DeGraw and Shirley Jones
providing special music, and
with Doug Barr at the organ.
The 1980 Lucan. Fair is
over for another year and
officials are pleased with the
results.
The three day event drew a
total attendance of 17,500 up
somewhat from last 'year,
but, short of the record
crowd in 1977. -
Last year's crowd totals
were 14,975 down somewhat
because of rainy weather on
opening night.
The record,for the 12 year-
old fair sponsored by the
enthusiastic Lucan Lions
club was 21,952 in 1977.
Fair chairman Ron King
said Monday, "We haven't
been able to finalize all of our
finances, but, I would hope
we would realize as much
profit as a year ago."
The Friday night crowd
this year was 3,500 while
8,700 went through the
turnstiles Saturday and 5,300
on Sunday.
The headline en-
tertainment at the centre
stage was Freddie Fender
and the seating facilities
were overcrowded for both
The Lucan Rookies failed
in their attempt to clinch
first place last week as they
lost back to back game to
Ailsa Craig 14-7 and then to
Nairn the following night by
a score of 14-8.
With the two losses and
Crediton's 4-3 • win over
Parkhill, Crediton now
finishes first place with a
record of 17-3, and the

The winning ticket on the
Lucan senior citizens club
quilt was drawn by little Kim
Mundy, 455 Ferndale Ave.
London and Rick Roth of
Guelph was the lucky young
man to win this beautiful
quilt.

Daybreak provided special
music Saturday afternoon
and the ever popular Molly
Maguires entertained
throughout the three days in
the Lions Den.
Ron King said he would
like to thank everyone of the
volunteers that helped in any
way with this year's. Fair. He
added, "We have , a
population of 1,600 here and
I'm sure 1,400 helped at the
fair. We certainly couldn't
have an event like this
without this super co-
operation,"
The chairman continued,"
"we also got tremendous co-
operation from other Lions
club who helped make our
parade a great success, They
came from St. Marys,
Thorndale, • Waterloo,
Ilderton, West London,
Paris, Delhi, Mount
Brydges, Granton, Ailsa'
Craig and Paradise and
district."
In the parade judging the
Rookies finished second with
an impressive 16-4 record'
First of all, on Tuesday
night, the Rookies compiled
a 24 hitting attack en route to
29-5 trouncing over East
Williams. Janice Abram and
Donna Wraith each had four
hits and scored four runs.
Darlene Smith, Diane Park
and Angie Ryan each had
three hits apiece. Darlene
Smith, was the winning
pitcher allowing just four
hits and striking out six.
On the ,following night, a
ten run first inning with the
help' Of five Rookies errors,
enabled Ailsa Craig to pull
off the win. Darlene Smith
allowed just seven hits but
bad defensive playing in
allowing 12 errors helped
Ailsa Craig to their victory.
Janice Abram, Darlene
Smith, and Sue Rollings each
had two runs apiece. Donna
Wraith homered for the
Rookies.
In Thursday night, a five
run sixth inning by Nairn
helped to save their victory.
Betty O'Brien picked up the
win and allowing just six
hits. The Rookies errored
five runs off starter Joan
Nordeman but the lead was
short lived as Nairn came
back with four runs in the
first inning and three more
in the second, Angie Ryan
led Lucan with three hits and
scored two runs. Janice
Abram, Darlene Smith and
Donna Wraith each had two
hits apiece.
The Lucan Rookies first
game of the quarter finals
will be at Lucan on Friday
night against East Williams
or St. Peter's.Game time is
8:00 p.m.
Lucan Sconts and Beivers
shared first prize for the best
float followed by Noah's Ark
and Medway High School.
The Granton Mean
Machine took the most
humorous prize with the
Lucan Nursery School and
Clare Paton's Grass Cutting
Service nett.
In the bicycle division,
Tonya Butchart and Lisa and
Kenneth Carter took , first
prize followed by Christina.
McIlhargey and Christa and
Jodi Riddell.
Revival Centre
Thursday evening the
Women's Auxiliary of Lucan
Revival Centre hosted a
fellowship meeting at the
home of Harold and Geri
Fletcher. Horseshoes and
other games were played,
after which Harold • played
his guitar while he led in
chorus singing.
Mrs. Jana Lyn Rutledge
talked of the only things God
will reward us for, what we
have done for Him, not who
we are. Paul Rutledge gave a
resume'of how he and Jana•
Lyn came to be married with
the Lord's blessing.'
Sunday morning service
In the absence of Rev.
Brewster, Bruce Shaw led
the morning service, reading
Psalm 24:7-10 and Rev. 4:5-
12.
Mrs. Marlene Thornton
and Mrs. Lorraine Armitage
ministered singing "For this
cause I bow my Knees:" Lori
Shaw told the Junior Church
about the importance of
salt in adding flavour and
preserva tion to food.
Likewise we Christians, like
salt, add flavour and
preservative to this world
with 'our lives.

As the robe represented
authority and position given
to a person, as Jonathon
gave to David, while David
exchanged his lowly
possessions to Jonathon, so
God gives to us authority
through His son when we
give ourselves to Him just as
we are. The sword and belt
Jonathon gave to David
symbolized strength.
Bruce Shaw opened the
evening service with Psalm
91:14-16. Clare Swartz
beautifully sang "Take My
Hand, Precious Lord," and'
"My God is Real". After a
time of prayer for each
other, Clare Swartz sang
"The Family of God."

Two persons were killed in
a crash on Highway 4 near
Arva at 12:30 a.m. Friday.
The victims were the
drivers of the two vehicles
involved Ricky bellow, RR 3
Ilderton and. Alexander
Zervos,Kincardine.'"
Dellow was northbound on
Highway 4 and Zervos was
proceeding sodtherly, Two
passengers in the Kincardine
vehicle Mario and Peter
Zervos were ,taken to a
London hospital suffering
minor injuries.

the Lucan OPP detachment
set damages at $7,500 and
Coroner Dr, K, Johnston was
in attendance at the scene.
Two other accidents oc-
curred the same day, At
11:25 a.m. Constable D,

accident on Concession road

involving a vehicle driven by

starting in the village under
the leadership of Mrs. R.A.
