Tuckersmith will sponsor an
information meeting with a
representative of the Liquor
Licence Board to discuss
recent stringent measures
imposed on special permits.
Bruce Evans of the special
occasion permit division of
the Liquor Licence Board
will attend a meeting at the
Vanastra Recreation Centre,
August 6 at 8 p.m. The
meeting was arranged by
Tuckersmith clerk, J.R.
McLachlan, and is open to
the general public.
The meeting was initiated

The Zurich Buckeyes
edged the Milverton Suns 2-1
in an exhibition fastball
game in Hensall, Tuesday
night.
After two innings of play,
the pitchers and catchers Tor
each club were exchanged
with the Zurich battery going
for Milverton and vice versa.
Milverton manager Bob
Harrow asked for the
change. Early in the game a
Zdrich batter lined a hard
drive back to the pitcher
which was barely caught.
Harrow said with the
ladies pitching slab only 40
feet from the plate there was
' chances of the pitcher being
hurt by the harder hitting
men.
The male pitchers start
their throw 47 feet from the
plate.
Zurich scored a single
run in the first inning and the
Suns tied the score in the
second.
The Buckeyes scdred the
winning run in the fourth off
their own pitching staff,
After four innings of play,
the fans were treated to a
couple of songs by a singing
chicken,' nine year-old Ron
Brookshaw of St. Marys.
Bill Brady of CFPL Radio
was at the microphone
keeping everyone in a good
frame of mind with his
humorous comments.
Arrangements have
already been made to play a
regular scheduled ladies
league game between
Milverton and Buffalo in
Hensall during the 1981
season.
Tuesday's game was
sponsored by the Hensall
Fair Board with a crowd of
over 400 in attendance.

The 41st annual Thomson
reunion was held recently at
the farm of Ken and Pat
Britton, RR 2 Dublin with an
attendance of 47.
After a delicious
smorgasbord dinner a short
business meeting was held
with vice-president Ken
Britton in charge. A moment
of silence was held in
memory of any members
who had passed away during
the past year. Greetings
were extended through a
telephone call from John and
Loreen Thomson in Arizona.

regulations applying to
special occasion permits on
July 1. For the first time the
new Liquor Licence Act has
placed guidelines on the
price of drinks sold under the
permits.
Evans said the measures
were taken to curb excessive
profitsbeing made on special
occasion permits. He ad-
mitted the permits were
being abused.
Under the new law, clubs
and groups using special
permits can only charge five
cents an ounce for draft
beer, 65 cents for a 12 ounce
bottle, 20 cents over retail
price for imported beer, 80
cents for one ounce of liquor.
$1 for 11/4 ounces and $1.20 for
11/2 ounces. Wines must be
sold for no more than 50 per
cent of the retail price of the
bottle.
With the new regulations
permits must be applied for
36 days in advance. And any
one organization cannot
have more than 10 special
permits for fund-raising
occasions or 25 permits for
social events in a calendar
year.
Oyer the past year the
provincial government has
earned more than $5 million
from special occasion
permits and less than one
quarter of the permits were
for non-profit occasions,

council has authorized clerk
Jack McLachlan to take
whatever action is ap-
propriate in order to collect
the delinquent water ac-
counts on the Vanastra add
Eginotidville water systems.
It was reported that several
of them have been paid
within the last few days,
Council agreed to a rental
of the Vanastra recreation
centre to the Vanastra Lions
club for a stag on September
12 but warned that no future
stags will be allowed if
exotic dancers are tia be in
attendance.

permit for a hospitality
marquee next to the Van
Egmond house in Egmond-
vine, Saturday afternoon,
September 27, from 1:30
p.m. to 5:30 p.m. when the
