Our New Store At 154 Queen St., St. Marys Is Now Open To Serve You
Tradition of friendly, personal service
to be stressed in new location
During the summer of 1965 Earl
Campbell, a widely respected watchmaker
and jeweller from London, purchased the
former S.B. Taylor Jewellers in Exeter. Earl
had already been in the jewellery business
for over 20 years and his reputation was
well known throughout Southern Ontario.
Earl, his wife Lillian and Amelia Dearing
spent the first few years establishing the
business, built on in-store repairs, and
friendly service.
By 1970 the store had grown, Marlene
Rundle and Marie Fisher had joined the
staff and it was time for the first renova-
tion.
In April 1976 son Jay Campbell joined
the staff after working for 11 years as a
professional meteorologist with Environ-
ment Canada.
By the spring of 1979 Earl Campbell
Jewellers Ltd. was formed with Earl
Campbell as president, his wife Lillian
secretary treasurer and son Jay as vice
president and it was time for another
change. The store was completely
renovated, one of the first to follow the
direction of the newly established plan for
the Exeter core area. Alma Davey joined
the staff for the re-opening and in the fall
Ron Wilson joined the growing team. Daryl
Webber, a student from SHDHS had work-
ed for summers and Saturdays since
September, 1978,
Today Earl Campbell Jewellers is grow-
ing again with the opening of their new
store in St. Marys. Jane Douglas, Joyce
Murray and Carrie Stroud are joining Ron
Wilson and the Campbells in the St. Marys
store.
Over the past 15 years many things have
changed but the main thing hasn't; Earl
Campbell is still offering the expertise of
professional jewellers and friendly service.
