latter. When we reached the
age of twenty - one. the legal
age was lowered to eighteen.
With indignation. we watch-
ed.chase eighteen. nineteen
and twenty year - old
'children' lining up at the
polling• booths.
When we finally reach the
age we can do all the things
we though we wanted to do,
we realize they're not that
thrilling.
In retrospect, I've changed
my ideas about certain
things not once but several
times as the years went by,
and I've learned a few
things,
` For example, most people
over thirty are trustworthy;
people over forty are not
over• the hill; people over
fifty are not senile, and
people over sixty know more
than I do because they've
had a longer time to ex-
perience life. I can learn
from them, if I just take time
to listen,
I also realize I didn't know
everything when I was
eighteen, and I hadn't
learned everything by the
time I was twenty-one or
twenty-five.
I'm still learning and I
always will be. That's one of
the exciting parts of every
milestone of life.
