The Tigers dropped an 8:1 verdict to Thorndale, and were then beaten by scores. Of 9-8 and 7-4 in back-to-back tilts with Clinton Colts. Thorndale scored once in the bottom of the ninth to win their home game on June 26, Dashwood opened the scoring with a single tally in Juveniles drubbed The Exeter juveniles were thumped 12-0 when they hosted Kincardine at the local park, Thursday. The visitors jumped into a three-run lead in the first inning and never looked back. They added a single. tally in the second and then six more in the sixth and a couple in the seventh, The locals were held to one hit, that being a single by Brian Mercer, the leadoff batter in their half of the first. the first and added another one in each of the second and fourth before plating four in the fifth to knot the count at. The Tigers picked up six hits with Robinson getting a pair. Hoffman, Wuerth, Dickey and Hera added the others, Dashwood blew a 7-0 lead in their first encounter with Clinton. The Colts scored their nine runs over the final two innings to take the one- run margin, Stover and Bestard had two hits to pace the Tigers to seven runs in the third frame. Also contributing a hit was Hoffman. Dietrich, Bestard, Baynham and Robinson contributed hits over the final three frames. Dashwood used three pitchers in the final two frames, but couldn't contain the Colts. Stover started and was relieved by Bruijns and then Baynham. Clinton scored four runs in the last two innings to win the second encounter. Bruijns took that loss. Thurman and Dietrich had two hits each for the Tigers, while adding one were Stover, Heywood, Fairbairn and Bruijns, Exeter Saveway played 500 ball this past week as they lost to Lieury 7-4 Thursday but came back with a 4-2 win over Ailsa Craig Sunday in Exeter. In Sunday's game Exeter opened the scoring in the second inning as Paul McKnight singled and John Gillespie slammed a home run. A couple of innings later, Ailsa Craig tied the game at two-all with a pair of hits. Soon afterwards Saveway scored the winning runs with Jamie Eveleigh double scoring Noel Skinner and Brian Taylor who singled. Eveleigh went the distance for Exeter striking out se- ven batters.andrallowing only three hits. Davison took the loss for Ailsa Craig as he allowed six hits, Saveway host the Lucan lose three The Kirkton midget girls softball team came up empty-handed in the three games which they played this past week. On Saturday the Kirkton girls were eliminated from the midget regional tourna- ment at Stratford when they lost 6-0 to St. Pauls and 5-2 to St. Marys. In the St. Pauls game Jane Simpson, Joan Cooper and Val Stephen hit safely with Kirkton pitchers Brenda Iredale and Pattie Willis limiting St. Pauls to only four hits. Barb Down. Cindy Down and Laurie Simpson had the only three hits in their loss to St. Marys. Brenda Iredale allowed six St. Marys hits. In their only league game of the week Kirkton lost to Nelson Park 13-0. Having a fine game at the plate was Jean Cooper who went five for five. having two hits each were Jane Simpson. Sandra Fletcher and Deb Taylor each had a hit. Kirkton out hit Nelson park 14-11. On Thursday the ladies take on Dorchester, one of the top teams in the league at 7 p.m. in Kirkton. Three tie at jitney A three-way tie existed for top honors in the Thursday night jitney at the Exeter lawn bowling greens. Cam Chapman, Ted Lamport and Olive Hicks recorded identical scores of two wins, an aggregate of 28 and a plus of four. Bill Rogerson and Gordon Hoggarth followed with aggregates of 26 and 25 respectively, while Percy Campbell had 24. Placing behind them were Ruth Skinner, Thelma Russell, Chas Bendy, Liz Lamport and Mabel McKnight. Wilfred Shapton had the top score on Saturday as he recorded a 27 aggregate to go with his two wins. Ger- trude Hamilton had a 22 and three followed with identical scores of 20. They were Bill Etherington, Evelyn Scott and Torn Walker, In other Southwestern On- tario Fastball Association games Poplar Hill edged Sylvan 4-3 Thursday and Nairn clobbered Lucan 12-2. Londoners cop bowling honors A successful lawn bowling mixed trebles tournament was held Sunday under ideal conditions with 66 bowlers representing clubs from London, Woodstock, Wingham, Seaforth, Clinton, St. Marys, Mitchell, Blyth and Exeter. Top rink was skipped by the Allen Gledhill, Fairmont Club, London with second prize to the Cliff Brown rink, St. Marys. Third prize went to the Reg Robinson rink from Mitchell followed by the Art Finlayson rink Seaforth and the Cliff Ashton rink, Clinton in fourth and fifth places respectively. The consolation prize was won by the Bill Rogerson rink Exeter. Five shooters post 25 score Five shooters shared top spot as 36 competitors en- joyed the Kippen Gun Club activity, Tuesday. Corning in with scores of 25 were Bert Mahaffy, Paul Middleton, Ray Geddes, Tom Russell and Bob Ironside. Following close behind with 24 were Dan Crerar, John Anderson and Bill Stewart. The group at 23 included Glen Mogk, Bryan Beer, Mery Batkin and Al Kyle, while Jim Butcher and Kevin Kipfer recorded 22. Pug. 10 TirowAdvocatii, July 9, 1980 Tigers are losers. on three- attempts Irish this Thursday in Exeter at 9 p.m. On Thursday Lieury's Ed Brown allowed only three hits as they defeated Exeter 7-4, Brian Hodgins took the loss for Saveway as he allowed 13 hits, Lieury scored four runs in the top of the first inning with a triple by Lloyd Mathers and a double by Bill Woodburn being the big blows. In the third inning, Lieury'added two more runs on three hits. Saveway narrowed the gap in the fourth inning to 6-4 as Doug Pearson was hit by a pitch. Brian Hodgins reached on a fielder's choice and Noel Skinner blasted a long home run to left centre field. Dennis Bierling con- nected for a single and scored on an error. Leiruy added their final run in the top of the sixth as Kirkton gals score. Bob Cornish came around to The Exeter peewee hard- ball squad had a very suc- cessful week as they won two games. The peewees posted a 10-8 win over' Goderich at the local diamond. Thursday night. Goderich opened the scoring in the top, of the first on a triple by Gibbons. Exeter quickly retaliated scoring three runs on three free passes and a double by Scott Lovie, Both teams event scoreless in the second. Exeter pushed two runs across in the third ds Jeff Pfaff stole second after receiving a walk, Pym sacrificed Pfaff to third and he came home on a single by George Pratt. Pratt stole second and third and came in on a passed ball. Three runs in the fourth gave Exeter a commanding 8-1 lead on singles by John Giffin and Rick Gilfillan, Pfaff had a double and Allan Pym a long triple to left field. Goderich rebounded strongly in the top of the fifth scoring five runs on two hits then holding the hometown boys to one run on singles by Pratt and Sean Whiteford. Goderich had two hits and pulled intwcruns to make it a 9-8 ball game going into the bottom of the sixth. Terry Zachar walked, stole second and came home on Gilfillan's double to end the scoring as Goderich was held scoreless in the seventh. Scott Lovie went the distance for Exeter giving up five hits, walked seven and struck out nine batters. Pfaff, Pratt and Lovie each had two R.B.I.'s. Gilfillan and Pym each recorded one R.B.I. Exeter 27 - Clinton 3 Saturday night the Exeter pee wees travelled to Clinton and came up with big innings in the fifth and seventh scoring 18 of their 27 runs in the two innings. They had 21 hits in the game and displayed their best hitting performance this year, Rick Gilfillan and Jeff Pfaff each had three singles. Marty Taylor and John Giffin recorded two singles, each and Sean Whiteford, George Pratt and Allan Pym each had one single. Doubles came off the bats of Pratt and. Giffin. Scott Lovie had a triple. The hitting spree also saw five home runs as Pfaff and Lovie each hit two and Whiteford had one. Pfaff not only led the hitting, but also pithetl the seven innings allowing only two hits giving up three walks and recording eleven strikeouts.. This week the boys will travel to Crediton and Dash- ' wood then play host to Wingham at the local diamond Thursday at 7:00.
