On that date, the sixth season of the Festival gets underway with opening ,ceremonies for the newly renovated Blyth Memorial Hall and with the opening performance of John and the Missus by Gordon Pinsent, The Lieutenant-Governor will be welcomed at the BlythMemOrialhall by a vice- regal fanfare played. by Ernest and Elizabeth McMillan of Goderich, The honour guard for the Lieutenant-Governor will be formed by members of the First Blyth Brownie Pack. Rev, Kenneth Innis of the Brussels Pipe Band will pipe the head table into the traditional opening supper in the basement of the hall, and weather permitting, Rev. Innis will entertain theatre- goers on the lawn of the theatre following the supper. At 8:00 p,m„ the Honourable Mrs. McGibbon will officiate at the ribbon- cutting ceremony to mark the opening of the addition to Blyth Memorial Hall. 1980 marks the completion of a $316,000.00 project un- dertaken by the board of directors of the Blyth Centre for the Arts. At 8:30 p.m,, the curtain will go up on John and the Missus by Gordon Pinsent. The production is sponsored by Champion. Road Machinery of Goderich, and stars. David Fox and Anne Anglin. The play tells the story of a Newfoundland miner caught between the demands of progress and his conviction that the old ways are the mainstays of his province. By MRS. HUGH MORENZ Adriana, Medinalla, a 19 year old exchange student from Mexico City, left for home, Sunday morning from Toronto airport. Adriana has been in Canada since Sep- tember 3rd, 1979 and took her Grade 13 academic year at South Huron District High School, studying English French, history, geography, theatre arts and man in society. While here she stayed with Mr. and Mrs. Jim Cleve, Patti,Belinda and Tom. Patti is also a student at SHDHS. Adrianna's parents sponsored her trip and the International Fellowship Incorporated office in Buffalo looked after in- surance and medical costs while she was here. A couple of high-lights of her stay was seeing the GRADUATES — Jane Alex- ander Connon, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Peter F.H. Con- non, graduated from the University of Windsor Faculty of Law at the Spring Con- vocation on May 31. Jane holds as well a Bachelor of Arts degree from the Univer- sity of Western Ontario. She is also a graduate of South Huron District High School and will be articling in Toron- to. parliament buildings in Ottawa and Niagara Falls and Marineland and game farm. Personals Patti Cleve, left Tuesday July 1st from Detroit airport, to spend a month with ex- change student, Adriana Medinilla, and her family in Mexico City, Donna Baker is home for the summer here, after completing her nurses training at Lambton college, Sarnia. Donna and Nancy Baker and Joan Taylor are cam- ping this week in the Pinery Park. Marg and Bob Reid, of Wallaceburg called to visit Sunday, with Ken and Ortha Baker. Scutt, Lucan graduated recently with an Honours BA degree in Political Science at Glendon College in Toronto. He completed his third year at the Universite du Quebec a Trois-Rivieres. He will be attending Universite Laval in September to commence a Masters Program in Political Science. Tim is presently employed by the government of Quebec in Tourism. He is a graduate of Medway High School.
