The special committee is one of six that have been set up since Parliament opened in April. The committee will act as .a Parliamentary Task Force By MRS. J. Creation of this special committee has been rumoured since the opening of Parliament, but its for- mation was held up by disputes about whom it should report to. The decision to go ahead with the committee represents a victory for the Opposition, who have argued that such a committee should report to Parliament and not to a Minister of the government. RECEIVES M.A. DEGREE — John D. Blackwell, son of David and the late Lillie Blackwell, RR 2, Hensall, received his Master of Arts degree from Queen's Univer- sity May 23. While an M.A. student, he held an R. Samuel McLaughlin Scholarship. His graduate thesis, under the advisorship of Professor D.W. Swainson, was in the field of legal history. John has been awarded a doc- toral fellowship and is con- tinuing post graduate studies. He is also a graduate of Huron College at the University, of Western On- tario.
