FRED BOWDEN CENTRALIA At the service in the United Church Sunday morning, Mr, Paul Schott, spoke on the "Parable of the Pearl," The pearl, a real gem, in the life of a Christian is to, obey the will of God. Singing in a mixed•quartet were Faye Blair; Glenna Tripp, Alan Powe and Rob Essery. Sunday evening a com- bined service for Centralia and Zion West was held when Communion was observed and there was a service of Baptism. Rev. Harley Moore, Grand Bend, was assisted by Mr. Paul Schott in conducting the service. Rev. Moore administered the rite of baptism to Joshua James Hem, son of Mr.iind Mrs. Gordon Hern ; Scott Neil Thompson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Hi Thompson; and Sara Emily McAllister, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Neil McAllister. Church membership, a convenience or a convenant was the subject chosen by Rev, Moore for his sermon. Personals Mrs. Lloyd Morgan has been a patient in South Huron Hospital for the past week. Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Tasko entertained guests Sunday zfternoon at their home at a graduation party in honour of their daughter Patti. Among the friends and relatives attending were Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Molnar, Mrs. Russell Wilson and Margaret attended the Fanshawe Graduation Exercises in London Friday afternoon where Donna Wilson graduated from the accounting course. Donna has accepted a position at the Hudson Bay Warehouse. Sunday Donna's mother entertained a number of friends and relatives to a barbecue at her home to honour the occasion. Mr. and Mrs. Stephen Molnar were among the guests attending. Mrs. Richard Shoebottom and family were guests for the weekend with Mr. and Mrs. Ray Shoebottom in Parry Sound. By MRS. HEBER 0AVIS SAINTSBURY Mary Jefferies gave her home Tuesday evening for the June A.C.W. meeting. President Marguerite Greenlee conducted the meeting. Carol Greenlee led in prayer for the Sunday School. Joan Greenlee, a prayer for the church and her work. Eileen Carroll a prayer for Missions remembering the prayer Partner at Summer Beaver Place. Marguerite Greenlee read the meditation. Secretary Hazel Eaton read the minutes of the May meeting, and Mary Davis reported on the proceeds and expenses of the June 7 banquet. She read a letter from the convener of Bales for the Diocese one from the bar- becue chef in Kitchener confirming August 27 as the date for the barbecue. The quilt was one display Woodham ladies tour By MISS JEAN COPELAND WOODHAM Mr. and Mrs. Hector Legere of Hemet, California and their grandsons Rodney and Gordon Legere of San Bernadino, California visited for a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Fred Parkinson, Margaret and Janet. The C.G.I.T. girls held a pot luck supper at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn Copeland on Tuesday evening. Mesdames Gordon Johnston, George Morphy, Fred Parkinson and Marvin Hartwick and, Miss Jean Copeland enjoyed the bus trip sponsored by the Kirkton Horticultural Society to Swains Greenhouse at West Lorne and the Colasanti Cactus and Tropical Gardens at Kingsville. They also made a short stop at Jack Miners Bird Sanctuary. Mrs. Charles Robinson of Newcastle-On-Tyne, Eng- land and Mrs. Marie Mills of London were guests on Wednesday with Miss Rhea Mills. Congratulation to Miss Meagan Jongkind a grade 12 student at South Huron District High School whb won a months scholarship to attend the Gallery of Ontario Arts School at the University of Toronto in July. Meagan was one of 3,400 students to apply for the scholarship. Mrs. Lloyd Jaques opened her home on Tuesday evening when the village honoured Brenda McCurdy with a miscellaneous shower prior to her marriage on Saturday, "Let's celebrate 200th Anniversary of the Sunday School" was the theme for the open session of the Woodham Sunday School on Sunday. The birthday party was complete with birthday cake and a social time followed, that the ladies quilted last week and members have tickets to sell. Members donated clothing for a bale including, articles for a baby layette. They packed the bale and, it is already shipped to SUMMer Beaver Place. Personals Mr. and Mrs. Harry Carroll returned home June 1.0. They spent a week with Harry's brother, Mr. and. Mrs. George Carroll, Detroit. While there they attended graduation exercises for two of Mr. and Mrs. George Carroll's grandchildren. Mrs. Fred Dobbs and Patti spent several days this past week in Toronto. Many friends and relatives called on Mr, and Mrs. Heber Davis this past week, Mr. and Mrs. Elliott McRoberts and Mr. Clarence Fletcher, Exeter; Gate. Wennerstrom, Mr. and Mrs. Maurice MacDonald, Mr. and Mrs. Cliff Abbott, Mrs. Mabel Needham, 1.4tican; Mr, and Mrs, Omar Burnett, London Township; and of course the members of their family. During the recent graduation exercises of Matthews Hall, London, Miss Patti Dobbs was named a successful graduate to the school's honour roll and received a special award for scholastic excellence. The program held at Alborn College on the University of Western Ontario campus was at- tended by a group of relatives who where guests of Mr. and Mrs. Fred Dobbs Jr. and were celebrated with an evening dinner party at the Dobb's home where family members gathered from Montreal, Strathroy, Blyth, Exeter and Lakeland, Florida, GRADUATE — Mary Eileen Lynch, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph P. Lynch, Parkhill was among those receiving degrees at the June 12th con- vocation, University of Western Ontario. Having completed the Honours programme in English Language and Literature at Brescia College, U.W.O., and named to the Dean's Honour Roll each year, Eileen has won an Ontario Graduate Scholarship towards Master's work at University of St. Michael's College, Toronto.
