Over 450 people enjoyed
a lovely barbecue supper
Saturday evening sponsored
by the Crediton Parks
Board,.

becued on the site of Bar B
Que Chef's operated by John
Rowe of Wellesley.
The Parks. Board would
like to thank all those who
helped in any way and all
those who baked pies. Thank.
you also to Mrs. Joe Averill
for the use of her equipment,
at the Stardust. A few pie
plates were left at the hall.

After the meal a most
interesting ball game
followed with the CFPL
Superstars playing the
favorite Cowgirls.
The Cowgirls were in-
troduced then Brother
Benedict Benedictine of the
Royal Order of Chinese
Food, most sanctioniously
blessed the bases.
The superstars were then
introduced and the no holes,
no confetti balls, grapefruit
balls, and no oar or beach
ball barred game got un-
derway.
When the Superstars took
CLANDEBOYE
Seventeen members and
several visitors enjoyed the
visit to Craigholme nursing
home, Ailsa Craig Wed-
nesday. President, Mrs.
Harold Hardy, opened the
meeting with the Institute
Ode, Mary Stewart Collect
and the Lord's Prayer. Roll
call was an old saying or
proverb. The residents were
asked to participate in the
roll call.
Community singing was
led by June Henry with
Winnie Robicheau ac-
companying on the piano.
Catherine, Cheryl and
Bonnie Lynn sang two
numbers, "Beyond the
Sunset" and "Amazing
Grace".
Barbara Carter gave a
comical reading about a
bridal shower and was
dressed to suit the occasion.
Following Institute Grace
the members served hors-
doeuvres and home made.
cookies which the residents
seemed to enjoy very much.
After visiting, a short
meeting was held in the
board office.Readings were
given by Mrs. Jim Cun-
ningham and Mrs. Roy
Cunningham. Final plans for
attending Huron Country
PlayhouseAugust 28 was
discussed.
Youth service
Service at Clandeboye
United 'Church' • Sunday
morning was in charge of the
community youth group.
TheSe young people have
been meeting together for a
year or so under the
leadership of Barb Ban-
nerman and Bryan Smith
and helpers Linda and Dale
Froats,
About 25 young people
participated in the service
which included a special.
choir accompanied by Helen
Brown on the piano and Rick
Freeman with his guitar and
soloists Ruth Hardy and
Laura McKenzie. Tami
McRoberts told the
children's story. Barb
Bannerman gave the special
message, "Love."
These young people are to
be commended for their
fellowship and participation
in God's service.

weekend to attend the 40th

celebration for Beryl and

desperate for runs. Wiggles
Wilma" preformed a never
before heard of feat, by
knocking home all eight of
her teammates, with a line
drive into centerfield.
During a dispute with the
base ump, one of the
superstars, who shall remain
nameless, threw fruit bottom
yogurt into the umps face.
The homeplate umpire then
retaliated by carrying a
superstar off the batter's
mound. This caused the
crowd to burst out in peals of
riotous laughter.
The game came to a close
with the Cowgirls 10, The
superstars 9.
In an exclusive interview
with the CFPL Superstars,
Brian Gillis stated. "Most
outstanding display of
baseball sportsmanship and
skill ever in the town of
Crediton, by a group of gifted
athletes in their prime. A
thrill a minute, nice guys
always finish last. Of all the
teams they ever played, the
Cowgirls were one of them.
