Homemakers
visit seniors
At the Exeter senior
citizens advisory group
meeting for June, guests
were the administrator of
Town and Country
Homemakeri, Mrs. 'Jean
Young, and field supervisor,
Mrs. Sherrie Reavie.
A film was shown depic-
ting the various facets of
their program, and it was
most interesting to see how
people can be helped to help
themselves so they can
remain in their own homes,
rather than go to an in-
stitution.
Homemakers can give
personal care, including
bath, mouth care, help with
eating, aids in and out of bed,
up and down stairs if needed,
therapy under direction of
nurse, doctor, or therapist.
They can assume full or
partial responsibility for
persons of all ages,
household management,
supervise meal planning and
preparation of nourishing
meals, shopping, laundry,
ironing, etc.
As well as homemakers,
they provide home help
services such as handy man,
house cleaners, hair dresser,
barber, sitter for elderly,
sitter in a crisis, friendly
visitors, and transportation.
