The Ladies' Guild of Holy
Trinity Anglican Church,
Lucan, met Tuesday
evening, June 10 in the
Parish Hall.
President, Muriel
Culbert, opened the
meeting with prayer
followed by the scripture
read by Gloria Hodgins,
Final plans were made for
the annual. Ham and
Strawberry Supper which
will be held in the church
lower hall, Wednesday, June
25 from 5-8 p.m.
Lunch was served by the
president and the meeting
closed with prayer.

their winning streak intact at,
seven by defeating Nairn
Sunday night 20-14 and then
trouncing Lieury 26-1

Members of the Sunshine
and Onsy Buddies groups
were entertained by the
students of the Ltican Palle
School Thursday afternoon
to commemorate Senior
Citizens' Week,for the third
year.
Mrs. Marguerite
MeRoberts welcomed the
guests and acted as Emeee
for the occasion, The little
Kindergarten children, led
by Mrs. Sharron Barnes
delighted their audience as
they repeated several
nursery rhymes and sang an
action song.
Mrs. Beth Radcliffe's
Grade is put on a little play
and gave two poems
"Wouldn't it be Funny" and
"The Seed" the latter with
actions.
Mrs, McRoberts' Grade 1
sang several songs after
which she called on Mrs,
Muriel Cobleigh, one of the
Grade 1 volunteers ,and a
member of the Sunshine
group.
A number of the children
thanked her for helping them
in various studies and she
was presented with a lovely
floral arrangement. Mrs.
McRoberts invited other
seniors to become volun-
teers in September.

Miss Barbara a'arlinger's
Grade two gave a poem
entitled"Peachea AM:Cream"
and Matthew Lane of her
class, played the piano solo
which he had given at the
recent recital,
The other Grade two,
under Mrs, Line Lyons sang
songs in parts and did a
singing dance. Tabatha
Froats and. Jane Holden each
presented their recital piano
solos, which were much
enjoyed.
Split grades three and four
taught by Miss Shirley
MacMillan, gave their part
of the porgram in two sec-
tions, One group did a
novelty dance and the other
the toe-tapping "Virginia
Reel,"
Mrs, Dorothy Nott, for her
Grade three, gave the audio
visual presentation of
"Children Every Year"
shown over C.F.P.L„ T.V. on
May 31st and June 1st,
Mildred Hirtzel, the
president, thanked the
students and teachers for
their excellent program and
invited the staff to share in
the social hour to follow
dismissal, which was
provided by Evelyn and
1VIerna O'Neil, Marjorie
Steeper and John Park.

highlighted this game. Diane
Park and Darlene Smith
homered in this game!
Thursday it was again
strong pitching, this time
from Karen Leitch who threw
a three hitter. A 16 run fifth
inning helped the Rookies to
solidify their win.

A former Granton area
girl was killed in a head-on
two vehicle crash early
Sunday morning on Highway
WI meets
Members and friends of
the Lucan Women's Institute
are reminded of the June

venership of Isobel Haskett
and the roll call will be "A

The victim was 22 year-old
Nancy Ryan of London,
daughter of. Mr. and Mrs,
James Ryan, RR 3, Granton.
Miss Ryan was .a
passenger in a vehicle driven
by Gary Guy, 1027 Huron
street, London. Guy is listed
in fair condition inUniversity
Hospital,London.
Condition of the other
driver Randolph Scott, 203
Mary Avenue, London
and a passenger Shawn
Hennessey, also of London
was listed Monday as
critical. Both are in
University Hospital.
The Guy vehicle was
eastbound and the Scott
vehicle was heading west-
ward when the accident
occurred at 1:50 a.m.
Saturday.
The accident was in-
vestigated by Constable Jim
Craig of the Lucan detach-
ment of the Ontario
Provincial Police and
Coroner Dr. R.N Green
was in •attendance.
Constable Craig said both
vehicles were "totalled". He
set damages at $2,000.
Raymond Tunics, Chatham
was taken to University
Hospital, London suffering
serious injuries when the
vehicle he was driving left
the Hyde Park sideroad at 7
p.m. Saturday and struck a
tree. Constable Craig listed
damages at, $8,000.

made a $5,000 donation to the new Horton Community Park.

Park the Parks Board of
London Township got a boost
in funds for their new
Ilderton Community Park
from the Ilderton Womens
Institute. Mrs. Jim Brintnell,
president, on behalf of the
Ilderton W.I. presented
Mark Talbot vice-chairman
of the Parks Board with a
cheque for $3,000.
The money is to be used to
erect brick pillars and gate
at the entrance to the park
and any money left is to be
WI contributes
to Ilderton ark
used by the Parks board as
they see the need.
The Institute com-
missioned John Gasens, a
local stone carver, to chisel a
beautiful plaque to be placed
in the pillars. This was also
presented. Mr. Talbot and
Phil Maguire, councillor on
the Parks Board, thanked
the Ilderton Womens'
Institute for their generous
donations.
