a come-back
The Grand Bend Colonials
rallied Sunday to beat West
Williams 6-3. The senior
soccer team was behind 3-0
in the first half of the game,
but came through to score
six in the second half. Tony
Mennen scored twice for the
Colonials and Kevin Sim-
monds also put in two, Dave
Nolan scored once, as did
John Mennen. The week
away from action paid off for
the teeth, as they were able
to come back with this
victory.
The Grand Bend B's
travelled to Arkona where
they log to Taxandria 2-0.
The Atom team lost to
Clinton B 3-2, Jonathon
O'Connor scored both goals
for the Grand Bend team.
The Mosquitoes beat
Seaforth 2.0, with goals
scored by Grant Hayter and
Darryl Glavin. Because of
the Grand Bend teatn's
excellent defence, Seaforth
had very few shots on goal.
The Bantaits travelled to
Kincardine Where they
trounced that team 7-4.
The girls team lost to
Stratford 3-0.

Tlhere was "True Blue" Armbruster,
adding to the team,
And they had Mrs. Sageman, who they
all called "Peachy Keen",
Mrs. Elliott swung the bat, and she was
named "The Pro",
Completing the gang was Mr. Moore,
"Manpower". you know.
The fans, they were an unkind bunch,
and never said a cheer,
When the teachers got a hit, or made a
run, I hear
But the boys team got all the praise,
the honour and the glory,
The going was rough for the teachers,
you'll see by the rest of the story,
The umpire who at at first, Paul
Kaempf was his name,
He seemed to be a little biased, to be
calling at that game,
For if the teachers were running, and
clearly they were safe,
He'd yell "out" and send them off,
when they reached first base.
The teachers had their problems, the
muggy weather took its toll,
One had a glove not broken in, and out
the ball would roll,
The backs. they'd crack, the shoulders
ached, and their knees were all a-
twisted,
And too many times the fielders would
run to get that ball, and missed it.
And the boys. they would do better as
the game went quickly by,
Despite the fact that Hurtling Murdock
seldom missed a fly.
And as the end of the game drew near,
the boys clinched the win,
They let a group of strong grade
eighters, come with them and join in.
The teachers had rallied, and they had
last chance at bat,
They had pulled themselves together,
all hopes on Fitchett sat.
And then the leather covered sphere
came gliding through the air,
And Midget Fidget stood a-watching,
as they ball went by her there.
A second time the ball went by, and a
gasp came from her crew,
You must remember a rule in two-
pitch, that you have only chanees two,
Oh somewhere teachers are laughing
and somewhere teachers shout,
But there is no joy in Grand Bend,
Midget Fidget has struck out.

worried about the dunking.
He added that he's looking
forward to seeing reeve
Srokosz in the tank. "He's
been all wet for years, and
some people think I have
been. Now they can pay to
make sure," Sharen said.
The recently formed

the dunk tank. All proceeds
from the tank will go
towards Optimist youth
work.
As well as the reeve's
challenge, several members
of the Optimists Club have
volunteered to go for a
dunking, There will also be a
soccer team challenge with
members from the Colonials

against the Grand Bend B's.

amusement rides. The
Optimists are borrowing the
tank from a group in

It looked extremely rocky for the
teachers' team that day,
The score stood eight to nine with but
one inning left to play,
So when Soldan died at second, and
Murdock did the same,
A pallor wreathedithqfeatures of their
team-mates at the game,
The teaching staff at Grand Bend
school had formed a team, you see,
They called themselves the "Pencil
Pushers", and they wanted victory,
They had played the winning girls
team, and beat them fair and square,
Now they're playing the boys team, and
losing by a hair.
The musical took so much time, the
kids were busy singing,
There was no chance for baseball, or
other things spring's bringing.
So the children missed the tour-
naments, against the other schools,
And the teachers said they'd play them,
they were such silly fools.
The houseleague teams had ,gone way
past the world series stage,
And team three had been the winners,
much to the other teams' rage,
So they were all warmed up, and in tip
top condition
They were out to beat the teachers, it
was their only missioh.
The boys were experts at two-pitch and
that would be the game,
The teachers hadn't practised, or
learned the rules the same,
Secretly, the teachers feared the
powers of the boys,
To bring in some new recruits, would
be one of Mahyploys.
So they called on Harold Green, and
named him "Green Machine",
And Mary Alderson or "Scoop" was
also added to the team,
Another helper would be Dan Sageman,
or "Dah the Man", they claim,
But he was Working. and came too late
- too late to save the game.
And then there was the backbone Of
that famous teachers crew,
Principal Mrs. Fitchett, for a name
"Midget Fidget" would do,
Following her, they had "Curly Girly"
as Mts. Soldan would be known,
And then came "Hurtling Murdock"
who ran faster thah any ball threat.
