Patrick's Church catered to a wedding banquet at Ilderton arena, Saturday evening. The members are very grateful to Mr. and Mrs. Ralph Simpson for assisting, Mrs. Vera Greenlee, Exeter and Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis were Sunday evening dinner guests with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Greenlee. Mrs. Hugh Davis and her mother Mrs. Vera McFalls, Centralia and Mrs. Eli Brown, Exeter visited Miss May Skinner and Mr. Cecil Skinner at Huronview, Tuesday. Mrs. McFalls was observing her birthday. The ladies of St. Patrick's church assisted by several friends are quilting this week at the home of Mrs. Hazel Eaton. Mrs. Alice Garrett, London and Mrs. Alexia Atkinson, Lucan visited Mr. and Mrs. Heber Davis, Monday. Tilley ... of Course From $13.00 And Up The Lucan A.B. & C. Beaver Colonies attended the Huron District Beaveree at the Blue Water Centre, three miles south of Goderich, Saturday. After parading into the Centre from the highway, they formed one gigantic circle and were greeted and welcomed by the District Commissioner,for the Boy Scout Movement, Mr. Walter Thomas of Goderich, and by the Assistant District Commissioner for Beavers, Mr. Ross Hallam, who organized the Beaveree. The boys watched a display of model airplanes flown by remote control, a canoe safety demonstration and a police dog who found marijuana which had been well hiddenin twoplaces in a car. A craft was enjoyed, the making of a nature picture plaque from an 84 log which had been cut diagonally to Demonstration for drainage Farmers and contractors from all over Canada and many from the U.S. will be on hand for the Ontario Drainage demonstration near Iona Station on July 9. William J. Amos, Parkhill, is secretary-treasurer of the Ontario Farm Drainage Association, , which is sponsoring the event. Some 20,000 feet of drainage tubing and tile will be installed by about 12 machines at the detton- stration. Such back-up equipment as backhoes, dozers and stringers will also be displayed. Anyone wishing further information may call Mr. Amos at 294-6871. Seven Lucan minor soccer teams were in action this week and came away with four victories and one tie. Mike Awns scored three times to lead the atoms to a 5-0 win over Ilderton. Scoring single goals were Tim Carter and Sandy Hyde, Chris Bell recorded the shutout, The pee wee Sooners were held to a 4-4 tie by Exeter. Scoring in single fashion for Lucan were Jesse Crawford, Paul Poole, Paul Crunican and Mike Pratt, The squirts were blanked 3-0 by the Exeter No, 1 team and the junior girls lost 2-9 to Oakridge, Frank Toonders scored all goals in a 4.1 win by the Lucan bantams over Ailsa Craig . The squirt Blizzards had little trouble inblanking Ailsa Craig 5-0. Paul Manders was the top scorer with three goals, Getting one score apiece were Chris McLennan ad Mike Damen. The shutout went to Chris Welsh. Ronnie Van Geel picked up a shutout as the Lucan mosquitoes blanked Ailsa Craig 7-0. Mike Gillen was the only double scorer while single goals were fired by Simon Mould, Mike Dillabough, Johnny Miller, Donnie Hugill and Mike Arts. Lucan United Church The 118th Anniversary of Lucan United Church was celebrated on Sunday with a guest speaker and special music by the choir. Newly ordained, the Rev. Rodger Jackson, B.A., M.Div. of the Komoka, Vanneck, Ivan Pastoral Charge spoke on From the Rural Scene we quote: "The only sure foundation on which any truth can rest is that those who reject it are free to attack it, and those who accept it are free to defend it." Next Sunday the Youth Group will be in charge of services in Lucan and Clandeboye. This will be a Father's Day Service with a difference. Beverage provided, Anglican, Church Women Members of the Lucan Anglican Church Women held their June meeting at the home of the president, Marion Hodgins, Wednesday afternoon. Mrs. Hodgins opened the meeting with several prayers and reported on the A.C,W. annual meeting held in May at St. James West- minster, as well as the Synod meeting held. last. week, in London. As a roll call members gave a verse of Psalm 34 which related to the Meditation from the "Living Message" entitled "Body, Mind and. Spirit". Gladys Hodgins assisted in the worship as she read the Scripture for the day, and Rev, Bruce Pocock gave a short summation on the same topic, In a lighter vein Maude Hodgins read a humorous piece about Will Rogers entitled "A Little Human Happiness" and another called "Modern Grandma", Birthday Poems applicable to different ages from childhood to the golden years, were read by Edythe Murdy, who .also led the members in a couple of quiet games. Following grace, the hostess and Gladys Hodgins served lunch, and Florence Hodgins thanked all who had made the meeting' so pleasant and worthwhile.
