With the pleasant weather
upon us all are enjoying
being out-of-doors more and
the Craigweil Garden
Apartment dwellers are no
exception. Recently they
enjoyed a van trip to see the
craft shop and greenhouse at
the Crest homes and the
Capracore Goat Farm at
Lobo.
They found the residents of
Crestwood very gracious and
obviously proud of their
surroundings and the results
of their work in the
greenhouse and garden and
woodworking endeavours.
At the Capracore Farm
they were shown the bottling
equipment and the stable full
of intelligent and friendly
goats.
The first Sunday in May
the service was arranged by
the apartment co-ordinator
with Pastor David Brunner
of Nairn in charge. May.14 he
entertained with song
following the seniors' dinner
in the Craigwiel Activity
Centre.
And a new season brings
special needs for shopping so
on May 22nd a trip was taken
into London downtown as
well as two shopping malls.
THE PUBLIC ACCOUNTANTS
COUNCIL
But what can be done to
help others outside of nur-
sing homes with special
needs? The residents have
responded to an appeal from
the heart fund and are busy
finalizing plans to help raise
monies for this project.
One of the events being
planned is the annual Family
Community Night scheduled
for Tuesday, June 17 at 7
p.m. The entire community
is invited to the spacious
Craigholme lawns where
musical entertainment will
be provided by "The Maple
Sugars", which should keep
the toes of both young and
old tapping. Refreshments
will be served following the
entertainment and a silver
collection will be taken to
benefit the Heart Fund.
The Friday following, June
20, they will hold a afternoon
of fun and activities from 2 to
5 p.m. This has been planned
to coincide with the Mid-
dlesex County Professional
Development Day and many
activities have been
scheduledtointerest children
and provide activity for
them. However, parents and
grandparents, are far from
forgotten.
There will be a flea
market, bazaar, sale of craft
items, and an ever popular
bake sale. Raffles will be
held on a Recliner Chair,
ceramic oil lamp, fruit
basket as well as on a quilt
made by the senior citizens.
All proceeds will go to the
Heart Fund.
In addition to raising
money for the Heart Fund,
the council is also busy with
other matters. They recently
forwarded a letter to the
village of Ailsa Craig asking
that when the curbs are
replaced along Main Street
they be of a sloping variety
to assist the handling of
wheelchairs.
In addition they have
written to the Ministry of
Health regarding the use of
door alarms which the
Ministry regulations state
should be on at all times. The
council asked that these
restrictions be eased during
the peak hours of the day for
the convenience of mobile
residents and guests, and to
cut down on the noise level.
Elected to office for a new
term was president, Scot
Whaley, vice-president,
Wilfred McNaughton;
