Al LSA CRAIG Beautiful weather prevailed for East Williams students Thursday as they ran,, jumped and leaped through their annual Field Day. Afewparentsand neigh- bours were on hand to lend support and encouragement as a few school records were broken. In the boys' 13 and over group Ken Mittchel took three firsts and broke the current long jump record. Bill Ingham and Mike Preyost placed second and third in the Long jump, with Ken Mitchell taking first in the high jump followed by Bill Ingham and Gord Storgaard. In the triple jump it was Bill Ingham who broke the record and took first with Ken Mitchell and Mike Provost coming second and third. Again Ken won the 100 metre dash with Bill Ingham second and Mile Prevost, third. Kirk Campbell again was the star in the boys 12 year division taking three first and breaking two former records. In the long jump Kirk scored first with Brent Martin and cameron MacDonald following. In the triple jump Kirk again broke the school record with Brent Martin and BarneyHughes taking second and third _place. Brent Martin and Kevin Gillies tied for 1st place in the high jump each breaking the school record, with Kirk Campbell and Chad Barclay folloWing. In the 100 m dash Kirk was first across theline with Brent Martin and Dave Shepley coming next. , In the boys' 11 years Chris Hughes placed first in the long jump with Tim Leyten and Richard, Engel second and third, and in the triple junip it was Chris Hughes, first, Richard Engel, second and Paul Barnes, third. Johnathon Romym won the Mothers are feted By JOY SCHEIFELE Ailsa Craig's Explorers and CGIT members took their mothers out for supper Tuesday evening and en- tertained them with skits and singing, The two groups combined and held their annual Mother and Daughter Banquet at the Ailsa Craig United Church. Approximately seventy-five young ladies and their moms filled the hall for an evening of enjoyment. Following the Kentucky Fried Chicken banquet the girls were kept spellbound by the acts of a young magician from London, The CGIT girls then presented a short skit and were awarded their pins by leader, Mrs. Trevithick. The Explorer group put on a short dramatization of Sleeping Beauty before being awarded their pins and certificates. Each girls was also presented with a small gift from their leaders, Ellen Whitmore, Beth McGregor. and Sherry McFee. In conclusion all joined hands and sang taps before being dismissed in the traditional CGIT-Explorer fashion. high jump followed by John Crawford and Chris Hughes. Chris Hughes was top runner in the 100m dash with Richard Engel and Stephen Worgan placing second and third.' Boys 9 and 10 the long jump was won by Rob McGregor with Chris Gillies and Peter Studzienny following. Rob also took the Standing Long Jump with Ross Martin and Peter Studzienny placing second and third while Chris Gillies won the high jump followed by David Miller and Robert McLachlan. Ross Martin won the 75 metre dash and Rob McGregor and Dwayne Dixon following. Eight year old boys and under events were highly competitive. Randy Skinner, Brian Schuyler and Jody Gillies placed first, second and third in the Long jump, and Chris-Leyton, Jody Gillie and David McCallum were first, second and third in the standing long jump. The high jump was won by Chris Leyton with Randy Skinner and Jordon Guy, second and third. Randy Skinner was the winner of the 75 metre dash with Brian Schuyler and Chris Leyton second and third. In the girls 11 year division Susan Ingham won the Long Jump followed by Tammy Frisa and Tina Martelle. Susan also won the Triple jump with Tammy Prise and Diane Turner placing second and third. Brenda Gillies, took the high jump with Linda Robinson and Susan Ingham, second and third. The 100 metre Dash was won by Diane Turner. Tina Martelle took second place and Brenda Gillies third, In the girls' 12 Ronnilyn Waters made the longest jump with Marta Brunner and Janet Rees close behind. Marta Brunner took the triple jump with Lori Snowden and Ronnilyn Waters, second and third. Ronnilyn Waters was winner of the high jump with Lori Snowden and Stephanie Martin second and third. Marta Brunner took the school 100 metre dash and Janet Rees and Lori Snowden placed second and third. By MRS ..1. TEMPLEMAN STAFFA Mrs, Flitter Chappel, Mrs, Arthur Kemp and Mrs. Calvin Christie planned a community shower honouring Miss Ruth McPhail, Monday evening in the Staffa Family Life Centre. Miss Susan Norris chaired the program which, included several piano duets by Mrs. Elmer Dow and Miss Mary Parsons, readings by Mrs. George Vivian and Mrs. Calvin Christie and step- dancing by Miss Sharon Fell.' A bingo game was organized by Misses Teresa Miller and Marion Smale. Miss Jean Dow read an ad- dress of good wishes and Ruth was assisted by her mother, Mrs. Ross McPhail, Mrs. Alex Scott, Miss Bonnie McPhail and Miss Lee Miller in opening her gifts. A handmade quilt from the congretation was presented by Mrs. Jack Hocking and Mrs, Bert Daynard. Ruth expressed her appreciation and lunch brought the evening to a close. Auxiliary meets Mrs. Carter Kerglake presided for the May meeting and tent sale of the Marion Ritchie Evening Auxiliary held in the Cromarty Church Tuesday evening Mrs. Kerslake opened the meeting with a poem Love's Greatest Gift. Mrs, Lorne Elliott read portions of Exodus Chapter II and John Chapter 19 for her scripture reading. Ten members and their visitors answered the roll call by naming a mother from the Bible. Mrs, Alec Miller, presided for the business portion telling highlights of the speakers address at a recent meeting she and two other members had at- tendedAninvitation from the Hensall Presbyterian ladies to meet with them on June **awes. accepted. A fellowship dinner was ' served .and with all the children, grandchildren and great grandchildren, there were about 110 people, who enjoyed being together. Many came from distant places, Toronto, Baden, Kitchener, Thorndale, Bramalea, London, Hamilton, Washington, Berrien Springs, Michigan and Missouri. A program was planned for the afternoon involving many different ages and groups including games, skit, comedy and script of the happenings of one of the Ford families during their childhood years. Among those who attended were Mr, and Mrs. Don Freuchtel from Missouri-- who are on their way to Honduras, Central America to serve. a two year term in the Honduras Adventista Hospital in a teaching program.
