HORSEMAN SHOP — Laverne Jackson of Wyoming brought
harnesses, saddles and several tools from his shop inWyoming
to the pioneer day held at the Lambton Heritage Museum on
May 25. Mr. Jackson started his shop five years ago as a
retirement plan but finds that he's doing repairs eight hours a
day.

Club held its monthly
meeting on ThUrsday May 22
at the Green, Forest Motel,
President Helen Elliott
presided over this final
regular meeting with 4Q
members present, The club's.
June meeting will be held at
Oak-Weed inn and will , in-
clude the installation of new
officers for the upcoming
1980-81 year.
The major awn for
discussion was, the "Great
Fish Fry," which will be held
' on Sunday June 22 of
B,urgerfest weekend, The
meal of fresh fish and salads
will be served from 11 a.m.
to 6p.m. in the big tent on the
beach,
" Final committee reports
were also given at this
meeting and it was agreed
that the club had spent a
• ,most successful year.

meet
The Catholic Women's
'League met Tuesday
evening at the Alhambra
hall, with nineteen in at-
tendance. President Roberta
. Walker presided. The
meeting opened with the
League prayer and scrip-
ture.
Minutes and a treasurer's
report was giVen. by Nancy
Stokkerman,
The Christian Family life
contribution was a reading,
on disabled children given by
Nette Pachlarz.
Roberta 'reported on at-
tending the C.W.L. 60th
annual convention, held at
Canterbury Inn, Sarnia, that
she and Dean Kelders had
attended earlier this month.
Thirty tickets have been
ordered for "Annie get your
gun," for Tuesday, August 26
at 8:30. Members are asked
to phone Huron Country
Playhouse to reserve their
seats together.
"Christmas in July" will
be featured at the June
meeting when members are
asked to bring in knitted
articles of hats, scarves,
mitts and sweaters which
will go to help un-
derpriveleged children as a
/ mission project to the North
West Territories.
The boat people ' being
sponsored by the Grand
Bend and Forest Catholic
churches are in need of a
good used freezer and
garden hoes. Can anyone
help?
All tickets on the quilt
being raffled are to be in by
Auguest 24,
Next meeting will be June
16, with a pot luck supper
and members are to invite a
friend.
A tupperware party will be
held after supper.
Meeting closed with
prayer. The door prize gift

news
Canon James conducted
the service at St. John's by
the Lake, Anglican church,
Sunday, because the regular
Rector, Rev. George
Anderson is vacationing in
Europe.
• On the Whitsunday in the
Anglican faith, Canon James
compared God to the
magnitude of the ' Rocky
Mountains. He told us , the
"permanence," the
"majesty" the "stability"
and the eternal beauty of the
mountains is like theglorious
Faith in God.
Many week end residents
and holiday visitors from
United States attended the
service

News
Guest minister at the
United Church Sunday
morning service was the
Rev. Robert Witmer, Mr.
Witmer is a -native of
Goderich, Ontario. In 1969 he
went to Japan as a teacher of
English, and after two years
became involved in a coffee
house ministry. In Japan he
met and married his wife
Kelko and together they
decided to return to. Canada
so that Robert might seek
ordination in the United
Church of Canada, On
Thursday May 15 he was
ordained as United Church
minister at the meeting of
London Conference held in
Wesley Knox United Church,
London. In a. few weeks, he
and his wife and children,
will be returning to Japan
where he will begin his
ministry in a'rural area,
Rev. Witmer gave an
inspiring sermon on the
importance of Christian faith
and summed it up by telling
us to take up, our Cross and
follow Jesus.
Scripture readings were
from The Epistle, 1 Cor. 1:18-
31, and The Gospel, Mark
Choir anthems today were
"Blessings" and "Take my
life and let it be," with flute
accompaniment by Dawn
Crabe.
A presentation of Mission
and Service Certificate of
Merit, from United Church
Headquarters in Toronto,
was made by Rev. H. Moore,
to Mrs. Clarke Kennedy,
'Chairman of the Mission and
Service fund for Grand Bend
Pastoral charge.
This 'achievement was
made by exceeding the
national average of 7.2 per
cent. This church's donation
to mission• and service was
21.3 per cent.
The Grand Bend Session
meeting scheduled for
Wednesday June 4 has been
postponed until Tuesday

They also saw the
planetarium, the world's
only computerized facility,
which cost over three million
dollars to build.
On day three, they visited
the Eastman-Kodak com-
pany where 28,Q00 people
work in more than 194
buildings spread over 2000
acres.
