Tigers win in H-P opener
sale, roller skating, men's
bash, ladies tea, parade,
Queen tea, projects, and
programmes were enjoyed.
Alex Meikle entered a
"guess what" contest and
was a winner, along with
numerous others.
Heather (Meikle) Lovie
entered the "Cakeless Cake"
contest and became "Mrs.
Spring Camper, 1980". Other
activities included a church
service and sunday school,
games for children and
adults and a pancake break-
fast.
Many units had to be towed
from the grounds because of
mud and water, but, thank-
fully, the Nomads were able
to leave unassisted.
Cowgirls
win again
The Crediton Cowgirls
scored their third victory in
four starts in the Middlesex-
Huron ladies softball league
Monday night by defeating
Biddulph 15-10.
The Crediton, girls meet
Denfield in Arva Thursday
night and Monday they play
host to St. Peters.
The Cowgirls moved
ahead with three runs in
each of the first two innings
and were never headed.
Deb Lord led the Crediton
batting attack with two
home runs and a single. She
was also the winning pitcher
holding Biddulph to nine
hits.
Wilma Lagerwerf was
next in the hitting parade
with a round triple and a
single. Adding one hit apiece
for the Crediton club were
Shelley Weber. Michelle
Vandergunst. Sandy O'Neill,
Carol Stuart, Itate Stilson
arid Barb Wein.
Twelve families and two
guest families of the Ausable
River Nomads attended the
Spring O.P.A. campout,
hosted by the London and
area chapters of the National
Campers and Hikers

Phil Volkewan opened the
scoring early in.the first half
for Forest, Ed Raine replied
midway through the first
half for Huron Park on an
excellent pass from Gary
Muln The Park went ahead on a
goal by Paul VandeWalle, It
was 2-1 for Huron Park at
halftime.
Only minutes into the
second half Ed Raine scored'
to up the Huron Park lead to
3 to 1.
After taking the two goal
lead the Parlt seemed to go
into a shell. Forest took
advantage of this and Mike
Campbell scored twice and
the game ended 3-3 at full
time,
Huron Park's next game is
Sunday, June 1 at Huron
Park. The oppo$ition will be
Taxandria. Game time 2
p.m.
The Dashwood Tigers got
off to a flying start in the
Huron-Perth senior baseball
league Friday night as they
scored a convincing 14-2
victory over the Thorndale
Athletics. The Tigers were at
home to Dorchester last
night Tugday and will play
host to a London junior club
at the Dashwood park
Friday night at 8 p.m.
The only Thorndale runs
came in single fashion in the
first two innings.
The Tigers counted with a
single run in the second
inning and added three more
in the third frame to go
ahead to stay. They scored
once more in the fifth.
A five run Tiger rally in
the sixth inning was powered
by a grand slam home run by
Dave Scott. Their final four
runs came in the seventh.
The 12 hit Dashwood at-
tack was led by Dan
Heywood with three hits,
Getting two hits apiece
were Barry Baynham, Bob
Hoffman, Glen Thurman and
Fred Robinson in addition to
the homer by Dave Scott.
Tiger manager Joe Fulop
used a total of five pitchers.
Perry Stover was the
starting hurler, He allowed
three hits and two runs in a
two inning stint.
Following on the mound
were Dan Heywood, John
Bruijns; Barry Baynham
and Brian Rader. The four
were able to hold Thorndale
hitless.
Heywood and Bruijns were
'ble to get three strikeouts

Clarence Down and Nancy
Micks shared top honours in
Thursday's competition at
the Exeter lawn bowling
club. They each scored two
victories with aggregates of
24. ,
Placing third with an
aggregate of 20 in addition to
two victories was Ella
Warrender. Miles McDonald
was next with an aggregate
of 18 and Stan Roth was next
with 16.
In Saturday's action,
Garnet Hicks was the winner
with two wins, an aggregate
of 30 and plus of 10. Isabel
Rogerson was next with
double wins, a 23 aggregate
and plus of 7.
Edith Love and Olive
Harvey were deadlocked for
third with aggregates of 21.
Will Etherington, Emma
Campbell and Olive Hicks
completed the prize list.
