Campbell for organizing this
event. Next year we will look
forward to a bigger and
better one.
The ladies of Usberne
Township were not to be
outdone, Gwen. Coward and
1, her captains organized
their -own cross country ski-
' a-long and sent in $50.00 for
their efforts,
The sale of daffodils by
members of the Beta Sigma.
Phi was a great success
again, The ladies were so
well organized and the
flowers in such demand that
the .1.300 dozen were all sold in
less than four hours. Thank
you ladies. Our suppliers.
B.C., are so hard pressed to
fill the increasing demand
for April daffodils that we,
may be held down to the
same number next year.
The Fashion Show this
year was made possible by
the sponsors Merry Rag's
1 • Boutique of Grand Bend and
Universal Mannequen of
London and a lot of hard
work for many people. We
received spontaneous
support wherever we asked
for help and assistance, The
management and employees
of the South Bee Centre, gave
us every possible con-
sideration and the excellent
facilities proved very
adequate for the show and
the viewing for 1,300 people
in attendance,
There will be a net profit of
well over $5,000.00 when all
costs have been presented.
So to the sponsors of the
the top
show and all who par-
ticipated, our sincere
thanks.
One remaining event for
cancer fund raising is the
Tee Off -for Cancer golf
tournament to be held on
Saturday, June 28 on both
local golf courses. There is
lots of room for more golfers
and its open to, men and
women, The banquet for this
event will be at the Exeter
Golf Club.
Again this year cancer has
taken its toll of human lives,
But 1.900 brings many bright
spots too. Many lives have
been saved or lengthened,
We have lined up the very
best minds in science and
medicine to fight it. We know
more about the disease and
how to prevent it, We are
educating, our children and
others against smoking and
other practices that promote
cancer. And we have made
the patients as comfortable
as possible.
The Canadian Cancer
Society is only one of many
international societies
throughout the world who
pool their knowledge and.
efforts to beat cancer. out
Canada stands et the top as a
leader in this field, due
in no small part to the
thousands of volunteer
workers who give of
themselVes for concern of
others,
For most people who have
either worked with or sup-
ported the Cancer Society it
has been a rewarding year.
Sincerely,
Carfrey4 A, Cann
