Ambulance Service council also received a report on• a special meeting held April 28 in Zurich regarding ambulance ser- vice in that village. The special meeting was attended by representatives from Payfield, Hensall, Zurich, and Hay, Stanley and Tuckersmith Townships. A motion was drafted at the meeting asking that a letter be sent to the Ministry of Health, "that we want the base of ambulance service to Roy and Mabel Ancierbou visited Mrs. Vivian Alder- son. Earline Stewart and Shirley Prouty visited with Mrs. Kendrick, Louise Mitchell, Isobel Sproat and Vivian Alderson. Margaret Larson, Buela Smith, Belle Reid and Bill Parker visited Clara Featherston. Lee and Anna McConnell visited with Russell Erratt. Mrs. Iva Ridley visited Vera Lammie. Florence andWalter Wilhelm visited Edna Youn . Rev. Westlake Ambulance now maintains a service .in the village, but the company's owner had tried to sell his. ambulance service to, Thames Valley Ambulance' in London. Under. new Provincial regulations, ambulance services -only get paid, for operatng the service, while the Ministry of Health owns e9uipment such as the radios and' vehicles themselves, Harold Knight said Mr, Westlake was "trying to sell goodwill" when he con- sidered the sale to Thames Valley. The sale hasn't gone through, If the ambulance service in Zurich were discontinued, then the next closes am- bulance service to Hensall are in Dashwood, Goderich and Seiforth. Harry Klungall said from Hensall council's viewpoint, "we are only interested in\ ambulance service" and not. necessarily in .wh \o operates it, Council members decided to endorse the resolution passed at the Zurich meeting, but to amend the motion to request that a letter be sent to the Ministry of Health saying "we want the ambulance service to remain located in the Village of Zurich on a 24 hour basis." Reeve Harold Knight said he couldn't see why it would matter if the ambulance was a satellite operation from -a as long as service elsewhere, it was located in Zurich. A letter was received from MPP Jack Riddell,, asking if Ira Geirger, who lives on the outskirts of the village, could main receive hydro from Hensall PUC, and pay the lower town' rates. Mr. Geirge, whose home is in Tuckersmith Township, is now paying rural hydro rates. Council said it would be "illegal" tb supply Mr. Geirger with hydro through the Hensall PUC, when the man is living outside the village limits. Reeve Harold KNight suggested the solution might be to have Mr. Geiger "apply to the village of Hensall to be annexed."
