hear talk on mothers

The May meeting of the
United Church Women was
held Monday evening with 27
ladies present.
Mrs. Ross Hodgert
welcomed everyone and
gave the Theme "Planting
and Reaping and also the
Call to Worship." Mrs. Ross
Cottle read the scripture and
Mrs. William Rohde gave the
meditation,
A poem "The Package of
Seed" was read by Mrs.
Hodgert , Mrs, Jack Stewart
led in prayer. Mrs. George
Kellett read "My Mother's
Apron," Mrs. Kellet and
Mrs. Stewart received the
offering and Mrs, Hodgert
offered prayer.
Mrs. Rohde introduced
Mrs. Alma Langford, Exeter
who gave a very inspiring
message on "Mothers", Mrs.
Ross Hodgert thanked Mrs.
Langford and presented her
with a mum plant. All sang
"A Little Seed Lay Fast
Asleep."
Mrs. Rohde read a poem
"The Farmers Wife". Mrs.
Murray. Dawson opened the
business with an interesting
thought.
The usual business was
dealt with and the
strawberry supper prices
were discussed.
Group U under the
leadership of Mrs. Fred
Johns served lunch along
with the hostess. Mrs. David
Passmore.
Personals
The sympathy of the
community is extended to
Mr. and Mrs. Gerald Riehl
and family in the passing of
his father the late Albert
Riehl of Saltford Heights,
May 5.
Mrs. Agnes Bonham,
sister of Carl Hume died
suddenly at her home in
Hanover on Tuesday May 6.
Mr. and Mrs. Carl Hume
visited at the funeral home in
Hanover on Wednesday and
attended the funeral in
Streetsville on Thursday.

an assembly was held in the
School gymnasium, It
started with opening exer-
cises, Martha Mollard read
the scripture. After the
scripture reading the girls'
senior gym class of Mrs,
Freer's did a dance called
"The. Alley. Cats",
After the dance • Mr.
Brawn's grade one gym
class performed gymnastics
for us: Mrs. Freer's class did
Another dance, which was
called "Don't Stop to. Get
Enough". Mrs, Russell's
kindergarten class did some
giant steps and other
physical education activities.
"Jerk News" was done by
Sean Hogan, Jeff Green-
wood, Murray Sutherland,
Brenda Bullock, Cheryl
Lynn and Debbie Hughes.
Mrs, Grant's folk club sang
"If Children had Wings."
Mr. Brown's class had a
draw for a houseplant, Mrs.
Joyce Steeper won the draw.
Miss McIntyre's junior
choir sang "Around". Mr.
Hearn's gymnastic team
performed. Mrs. Freer's
gym class did a dance called

School to practise for the
Middlesex County Concert
on May 14,
Thursday, the grade eight
class went on a trip to
Toronto.
Miss Lisa Mollard, Mid-
dlesex County Dairy Prin-
eess, and a graduate of
McGillivray, showed slides
of the dairy industry and
spoke to students at two
special "Education Week"
assemblies Thursday, The
students thanked Lisa who
answered their questions
very well. Each student
received an "I Drink Milk"
button or a pencil.
