paints and "bisk" tomorrow,

next ceramics project with
Rose Bakker.

playing a man's card; Lone

on Sunday
The Lucan-Biddulph
Canadian Cancer Society
Branch executive met
recently to finalize plans for
the annual "Great Family
Ride for Cancer" to be held
Sunday, May 4, leaving from
the Market Square Park in
Lucan and the Scout Hall in
Granton, at 1 p.m.
If you do not have your
pledge sheet yet, you can get
it from any member of the
executive, Wraith Family
Hardware or Young's Store,
in Lucan and the general
store in Granton.
The canvass in the villages
and township is almost
finished, but some kits have
not been turned in. Please
finish up as quickly as you
can, so this Branch may be
among the first to meet the
deadline for return of kits to
the Unit Office.
Ladies' night of the South
Huron Past Masters'
Association FridaY night in
the Leprechaun Room at the
Lucan Community Centre
was a wonderful success
with over 18() tickets being
sold. The accommodation
was stretched to its limit!,
Wor, Brother Murray
Magill, chairman for the,
Association, acted as Emcee
for the occasion, welcoming
the guests, offering.. the toast
to the Queen and the Craft
and introducing Head Table
guests,
Wor, Brother Bryan.
Smith, District Chaplain,
asked the blessing and Wor.
"The Second Greatest
Commandment" from Luke
10:25-37, the story of the
"Good Samaritan" was the
theme for Rev, Keith
Brown's sermon on Sunday
morning, in Lucan United
Church. •
Mr. Brown told his
congregation that "the first
direction for love is vertical,
love to God and the second is
horizontal, love to your
neighbours,"
The Samaritan, a member
of a despised race, forgot the
indignities he had suffered
and ministered to the
wounded Jew because he
saw a basic human need. He
had real love which moved
him to action. The whole of
Christ's life was an example
of love and He says to us "Go
and do likewise."
The new P.A. system was
in use on Sunday. Thanks to
Mr. and Mrs. Kermit
Thompson for their kindness
in providing this "hearing
aid" for the Church.

"Uncle" Jim Benn sent in

Kellie's name, and it was
chosen over all the rest. The
contest prize is an all-
expense-paid holiday for
four to Disneyworld, and
Kellie can't wait to see
where Mickey Mouse lives!

Bible study and worship,
led by Jean Brown,
highlighted the meeting of
the Evening Unit of Lucan
United Church Women,
Tuesday.
During the business
meeting,, chaired by the
leader Freeda Melanson, an
invitation was read to attend
the Clandeboye U.C.W. on
May 6 at 8 p:m. at the home
of Irene Lynn,
The N-West Regional
meeting was announced for
May 5, from 5:30 p,m. for
dinner at Lieury U.C. with
the program at 7:30 and a
motion was passed to
recommend that $100. be
donated to the Inter-
denominational Church
Vacation School, from the
funds being turned in to the
General Treasurer.
The quilting convener
Bernice Lockyer announced
that four quilts have been
quilted and there are three
'more to be done. There is one
"in" at the present time, so a
call is out for all quilters to
lend a hand.
Members are asked to
contribute something "sewn,
grown or baked" for sale at
the May meeting and
"homework" for that
meeting is to read the book of
Mark, making notes of what
is most important to you in
that epistle.
