Middlesex County
elementary public school
teachers are involved in
approximately thirty in-service workshops spon-
sored by the County Board of
Education. The workshops
are being operated in
response to the needs of
teachers as expressed in a
1978 survey.
Full-day sessions have
been arranged for
elementary French
teachers; itinerant music
teachers; visitations for
The first "Dessert" euchre
to be sponsored by the
Sunshine Group on Thursday
afternoon was a tremendous
success when the Legion
Hall was filled to capacity
with tables daintily set with
fine china, flowers and
daffodil serviettes, provided
by the Lucan Branch of the
Canadian Cancer Society.
The desserts were plentiful
and most varied , and those
left over were sold at the
close of the afternoon's fun.
Prize winners were lady's
high, Mrs. Don Allen, Lucan,
Lone Hands, Mrs. Murray
Collins, AiIse Craig, Low
Score Mrs. Herb Broom,
Centralia ; Man's Hi h
remedial teachers;
mathematics for teachers. of
Kindergarten to grade 2; and
mental health, stress, and
leadership styles for all
teachers.
Half-day workshops in-
clude enrichmenj
programming for grades 4 to
8 and special education
classes; observing learning
of five-, six-, and seven-year-
olds; young authors for
grades 1 to 6; the magic of
poetry; behaviour control
methodologies; cultural and
racial differences;
Harry Noels, Forest; Lone
Hands, Mrs, Joe O'Neil; Low
Score, Mrs. Harold McFalls,
both of Lucan and both
playing men's cards, A
special "chair" prize was
won by Mrs. Joe Horner of
Parkhill.
The prizes had been
donated by various business
men of the village for the
"stormed-out" euchre party
of the Cancer Society
Branch, and were re-donated
for the use of the Sunshine
Club. Many thanks to the
businessmen involved.
Mrs. Maurice McDonald
was the very able convener
for the event, assisted by
many of the members
Ross was, awarded a trophy
for Best Christian Attitude,
and Frank Bailey was
chosen as having the Most
Helpful Attitude.

Mrs. Darlene Butler from
London, who showed books
about how Christians use this
weight watchers diet, based
on discipline.
Ken Allen played "Have
Thine Own Way Lord" at the
Sunday morning service.
Mr. Bill Davies talked to the
Children's Church about the
sadness of King David as he
was chased by his enemies
until God reminded him to
count his blessings.
Rev. Ray Brewster
ministered from Ephesians
2:10 saying we are God's
workmanship created in
Christ Jesus. Jesus is still
building today, not with
wood and nails, but by His
Holy Spirit, His church.
This family builds
fellowship. This shows us
Jesus came to bring life, that
we can have our lives built
by God.
Christian view Bible
College students conducted
the evening service. Bruce
Thomson introduced each
student, giving a resume on
their background. He then
played his guitar while Mrs.
Debbi Pererra sang "I
Was Born to Serve The
Lord."
"The College Strings,"
Rev. Eugene Toews on base
viol, Ken Allen on violin, and
Bruce Thomson on guitar,
played for the college choir
as they sang "I'll Fly Away."
They then played a medley
from the Psalms, while
Bruce Thomson sang.
Danny Gilliard sang "He
Could Have Called Ten
Thousand Angels." Rev.
Roger Mason led in prayer
before he introduced Rick
Rose, who ministered from
Matthew 6:9-15,
Saturday evening the
captain of the church
hockey team, Howard
Currie, held an appreciation
gathering of several
members of the team at this
home. The church hockey
team has enjoyed a winter
season of sports and
fellowship as they played
Saturday at the Lucan
arena. Assisting Mr. Currie
as coach is Harold Fletcher,
with John Armitage as
goalie.
They honored three of the
players for their conduct as
hockey players, John
Holland received a hockey
trophy for being the most
improved player. David
