Dear Mr. flatten:
This is, in response to your
column in the April 16 issue
of the Times Advocate "No
Wonder People Get Sick". Is
it little wonder when people
are misquoted or miscon-
strued as I was? I hope the
following "medicine" is just
the "antidote" you need to
help your symptons towards
a better understanding of the
situation,
First, the reason Council
was informed that I would
not be available for evening
meetings on the budget at
this time was because my
husband was in the hospital
and I expected to be going to
see him. Certainly anything
as important as the budget
that I had spent many after
hours compiling (without
extra compensation) you can
rest assured that I would
have been there if at all
possible.
I note that you do not
extend your criticism fur-
ther to more highly paid
male civil servants such as
County Clerk or P.U.C,
Manager who arrange all
daytime meetings and
elected officials involved
seem to be able to re-arrange
their schedules accordingly.
I note also that you do not
mention the fact that many
of my counterparts in other
Huron County municipalities
not only receive higher
salaries than myself, but
also receive as. much as $50
for special or committee
meetings.
You do not mention the
fact that the previous clerk
was only expected to attend
council meetings, not
committee meetings, nor
that B. Parsons had been
attending committee
meetings for the past two
years (also without com-
pensation) nor did you
mention the fact that when
I was appoihted clerk,
council did not have such a
proliferation 'of committees.
I have never objected to
attending special council or
committee meetings of
importance, but what I do
object to is being taken for
granted - date and time of
committee meetings set to
suit members, never the
clerk - never ask the clerk if
she has been to a meeting the
night before or if one is
scheduled the next night -
schedule meetings for any,
little whim 44, then when
members notified, clerk's
personal life rearranged to
accommodate-then com-
mittee cancels,
No way does a stipend
compensate for being ex-
pected to give up your social
and or family life to attend
meetings, but the • fact
remains that I am an em-
ployee of the Town and no
way would council expect
their Police Constables to
put in extra hours without a
healthy overtime rate or
their arena staff to work
weekends during hockey
season without equivalent
time off, so why should the
clerk be expected to be at the
"beck and call" of council
without even a "Thank you".
The reason - She is just a
woman !
If clerks can expect 'the
same "hazards of the trade"
as editors as your column
Body is
identified
The charred remains of a
female person found March
25, near the Horizon View
Road, about 25 kilometers
north of Goderich, has now
been identified.
A matched set of yellow
gold diamond wedding and
engagement rings found
near the right hand of the
victim were traced through
the co-operation of Leroy's
Jewellery Stores Limited
located in Michigan.
The names of purchasers
of 28 sets of these rings sbld
in the Great Lakes States
area were checked with the
assistance of police forces
from those states. As a
result, the Michigan State
Police traced the rings to the
victim.
Positive identification has
been made by comparison of
dental charts of the victim
by Dr. G.P, Wysocki of the
University of, Wes tern
Ontario in London.'
The victim has been
identified as Kimberly Jean
Woodward, age 24 years, of
Carrollton, Michigan.
Investigation is continuing
in both Michigan and
Ontario.

suggests, perhaps it is time
for me to re-valuate my
position vs. my family life.
Are your predictions and
your criticisms worth the

Clerk-Treasurer
Dear Sir:
We are taking this op-
portunity to express our
thanks to many groups and
individuals who helped to
bring an QMHA midget
championship to Exeter.
First, the boys who did all
the work, our hockey
players. This year, we had a
true team effort with
tremendous depth in all
positions.
At the start of the season it
looked as if we would never
have a full team, between
football injuries, hockey
injuries and flu etc. it
seemed as if we would never
put a team together.
But go together it did with
the final results that nobody
can take away from them,an
.all-Ontario Championship.
We would like to thank
Bach and every boy for his
co-operation and hard work
during the year. Without this
cooperation, we would not
have been winners.
Exeter and community
must be proud of your
achievement and also the
sportman.ship you displayed
on the ice and your gen-
tlemanly behaviour off the
ice.
To the parents of the
players, we wish to say
thank you. You encouraged
your boys and the coaching
staff. You were always
ready to supply tran- ,
sportation, help and en-
couragement. This kind of
support made this year a
pleasure.
The Exeter Minor Hockey
Association deserves credit
for their support in the past
and present which made this
achievement possible.
E.M.H.A. provided us with
the required equipment, ice
time and transportation
which is all so necessary
when you are in an All
Ontario Final.
We the coaching staff wish
to thank you for your sup-
port.
To our fans - What do you
say to so many people who
showed so much interest and
enthusiasm for our team.
We needed you and you were
there. Thank you.
To our sponsors, the Exeter Kinsmen Club, we
thank you for yotir support in
providing sweaters and
socks for the team„ Every
team needs a sponsor and
you were willing to supply
whatever we required,
To name individuals is
very dangerous since we
would probably miss
someone, however, we
cannot leave out our ap-
preciation to the arena staff,
and our faithful timekeepers
and goal judge.
For us the coaching staff it
has been an enjoyable and
fulfilling year. Thank you
everyone for helping to make
it thus,
Yours sincerely,
Jack Fuller,
