Photo by Doerr If you operate a business in Ontario and create new jobs between May 5 and October 26, 1980, you may apply to the Ontario Youth Employment Program for a grant of $1.25 an hour (up to a maximum of S 50.00 a week) towards the wages of each eligible youth you hire for those jobs. Here's how OYEP can help. OYEP was designed both for you and young people who want to work. It enables you to hire young people between the ages of 15 and 24 to do extra work for you while we help to pay their salaries. The maximum grant allows you up to 6,000 man hours of help at each location where application for employment has been made. For example, you could hire 10 young people for 15 weeks each, or 15 young people for 10 weeks each.You must hire each young person for an average of 25 hours of supervised employment per week for at least six weeks. Eligible employers. A birthday lunch, honouring Mrs. Jack Hocking was a happy ending for the Tuesday quiltings which the Hibbert United Church Women and the Marion Ritchie Auxiliary ladies from Cronfarty, have enjoyed in the Family Life Center since early in January. Rev. Bert Daynard was in charge of the Easter Service, Sunday morning in Hibbert United Church following a Pancake breakfast served by the young people. Joining the church by profession of faith were, Kim and Kathy Finlayson, Mary Parsons, Janice Vivian, Robert Norris, Grant Drost, Jim Butson and Mrs. Gordon Colquhour, by transfer. With 1*. and Mrs. John Drake and Murray on Easter weekend were Mrs. Margaret Howard, London and Mr. and Mrs. David Sim and family, Southwold. Mrs. Ted Hargreaves, Robbie and Ryan, Woodstock. A family get together was held at Russelldale Hall Saturday evening. It was a surprise 20th wedding an- niversary party for Mr. and Mrs. Barry Miller which is on April 30. Congratulations. A large number of people from this community at- tended the Canners banquet at the Rec Centre in Exeter Friday evening. Alleluia night A large number of adults and children attended Alleluia Night in the church basement on Friday evening. Mr. Ross Hargreaves was chairman for the programme which consisted of a sing song led by Mrs. Howard Pym with Mrs. Philip Johns at the piano which was much enjoyed. Some hilariout skits were enjoyed, piano solo, readings, etc. The evening was brought to a close with a delicious pot luck smorgasbord, lunch. All reported a good time. U.C.W. meets The Easter Thank- Offering meeting of the United Church Women was held last Monday evening with about 80 ladies in at- tendance from Caven Church Exeter, Elimville, Kirkton and Zion. Mrs. Glen, Stewart welcomed everyone and gave an Easter Call to Worship. Mrs. Bob Hume read the Scripture lessonand Mrs. Fred Johns gave the Meditation. Miss Doris Elford led in prayer. Mrs. Stewart introduced Mrs. Maurice Francis of Fullarton who spoke on "Some of the Women in the Crucifixion Story." Mem- bers were divided into, groups and discussed dif-` ferent Bible passages, Mrs.. Reg Hodgert thanked. Mrs. Francis for her inspiring message and, presented her with a gift. Mrs. Hume and Miss Elford received the offering and Mrs. Stewart offered prayer. Mrs. Fred Johns led in a The grades students held a successful bakesale March 11th. They raised $73. They had two box lunches which were also successful in raising $150. This will go towards their graduation fund. The grade 7 students also had a box lunch and raised $41.50 for Camp Sylvan on Thursday April 13. On March 11 we received our progress reports. Some were pleased and others were a little disappointed. The popcorn sales spon- sored by the grade 7's every is a requirement for each location where you would like to hire. Eligible employees. The young people you would like to hire must be betweenthe ages of 15 and 24.They must reside and be eligible to work in Ontario. They must not be related to the employer as defined in the Ontario Youth Employment Act. If you can provide new jobs for Ontario's youth, Ontario will help pay their salaries. All jobs must be new. To be eligible for funding, a posi- tion created must be in addition to regular and seasonal employment normally provided during the 25 week program period.This may mean special projects in the office, general repairs, research and so on. Apply early. Grant funds are limited. Deadline date for applications is July 2,1980, or earlier if all funds have been allocated. Submit your application as soon as possible. Sing-Song accompanied by Mrs. Reg Hodgert at the piano which was much en- joyed Mrs. Murray Dawson the president opened the business part of the meeting with two Spring ThOughts. The usual business was dealt with. The meeting closed with prayer. A delicious lunch was served by groups C and W and the hostess Mrs. George Kellett. Wednesday to raise money for the Camp. Sylvan trip have went over well. Near the end of March the cast for an operetta, Oliver, was chosen. The per- formance is scheduled for, early May. To end off the month the Grades 6 and 7 students from rooms 2,3 and 4 went to the Toronto Science Centre where 8 people guided 10 blind children from R.W. Ross in Brantford. It was a fantastic experience for all that 'participated.
